Student answer (Band 5.5)

SOME PEOPLE BELIEVE THAT THEATRES AND CINEMAS ARE NOT IMPORTANT IN THIS DIGITAL ERA, WHILE OTHER PEOPLE ARGUE THAT IT IS IMPORTANT FOR BOTH ECONOMICALLY AND CULTURALLY. IN MY OPINION, THEATRES AND CINEMAS PLAYS A CRUCIAL ROLE IN THE LIFE. IN MY COUNTRY IT HAS BEEN ONE OF THE MAJOR ENTERTAINMENT TO BE WATCHED BY THE PEOPLE. IT SHOULD BE WATCHED IN THEATRES FOR GOOD EXPERIENCE AND WILL GET KNOW MORE ABOUT DIFFERENT CULTURE. IN THIS MODERN ERA WHERE MANY INDIVIDUALS PREFER CINEMAS WATCH ON ONLINE.

ONE THE ONE HAND, IN THIS MODERN TECHNOLOGY MOST PEOPLE PREFER TO SEE THE MOVIES ONLINE RATHER THAN GOING. THEY THINK THAT THIS CAN HELP THEM TO SAVE THEIR TIME AND MONEY. AS THEATRES CHARGES MORE MONEY FOR GREATER EXPERIENCE. THIS LEADS INDIVIDUALS TO EXPERIENCE THE MOVIE AT THEIR HOMES OR OFFICES. FOR INSTANCE, ONE OF MY CLOSE FRIEND PREFERS TO WATCH IN ONLINE PLATFORMS PROVIDING THE SAME MOVIE AT LOWEST PRICE AT THEIR CONVIENCE SUCH AS NETFLIX IT RELEASES THE MOVIE AFTER ONE MONTH OF RELEASING WHICH HELPS PEOPLE TO WATCH EASILY AT THEIR FREE TIME. MOREOVER, THERE ARE SEVERAL WEBSITIES WHERE PEOPLE CAN DOWNLOAD THE MOVIES FOR FREE AND WATCH AT THEIR CONVIENCE.

ON THE OTHER HAND, CINEMAS WILL GIVE MORE ACTION AND CULTURAL EXPERIENCE TO THE AUDIANCE. BY GOING TO THEATRES WILL HELP PEOPLE TO EXPERIENCE GREAT TIME WITH THEIR FAMILY AND LOVED ONES. THEATRE WILL GIVE GOOD QUALITY SOUND AND SCREEN FOR THE AUDIANCE TO UNDERSTAND THEIR SCENES IN THE PICTURE. FOR INSTANCE, THEATRES HELPS PEOPLE TO MEET AND WATCH AT SAME PLACE. THIS REDUCES THEIR STRESS AND PROVIDE OVERALL GOOD EXPERIENCE TO THEM. IN ADDITION, CINEMAS WILL GIVE SEVERAL IDEAS ON LIFE LIKE MOTIVATION AND INSPIRATION. AS THIS COULD HELP YOUNGSTERS TO DO WELL IN THEIR LIFE.

IN CONCLUSION, CINEMAS PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN OUR LIFE. BASED ON THE CONVIENCE IT SHOULD BE WATCHED. A BALANCED APPROACH WORK BEST. SOME INDIVIDUALS DOESN'T HAVE MUCH FREE TIME TO WATCH IN THEATRES SO THEY PREFER TO WATCH ONLINE. BUT SOME PEOPLE LOVE TO HAVE BEST EXPERIENCE SO THEY PREFER TO WATCH OFFLINE WITH THEIR FRIENDS AND FAMILIES

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and give a position: you say cinemas remain important, while acknowledging that online viewing is convenient and cheaper. The examples about Netflix and watching with family are relevant, and the conclusion returns to a balanced preference. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The online-viewing paragraph explains convenience and cost, but the claim that cinemas matter economically is not really explored. Cultural value is mentioned through “different culture” and life lessons, yet these points need clearer explanation and support. Your opinion is also not fully consistent: you initially say theatres play a crucial role, but conclude that viewing should depend on convenience. Explain more precisely why you consider cinemas important despite online alternatives, and extend each main idea with a specific reason or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad direction, and the examples are generally placed with the relevant argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear or mechanical. For example, the opening paragraph moves from your opinion to a claim about your country and then to online viewing without clearly connecting these points. Some links, such as “This reduces their stress,” do not make the relationship to the preceding idea fully clear. The conclusion repeats earlier points rather than bringing them together into a precise final judgement. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each explanation explicitly to its main claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “digital era,” “online platforms,” “cultural experience,” and “motivation and inspiration,” so the reader can understand the main subject and arguments. However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or awkward, sometimes making meaning less clear. Examples include “watch in online platforms,” “at their convenience,” “greater experience,” and “good quality sound and screen.” There are also spelling errors such as “audience,” “websites,” and “convenience,” alongside repeated use of basic words such as “good,” “people,” and “experience.” Aim to learn natural collocations for discussing cost, access, and cultural value, and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you express the ideas without relying on repeated general terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including a reason clause with “because” implied in the discussion of cost and a relative clause in “platforms providing the same movie.” However, the range is limited, and attempts at longer sentences are often faulty. Agreement errors occur in “theatres and cinemas plays” and “cinemas plays”; verb forms are also problematic in “theatres charges” and “this reduces their stress and provide.” Articles, plurals, and sentence construction need attention, as in “one of the major entertainment” and “By going to theatres will help people.” Several sentences are fragments or run together, particularly the Netflix example. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement and punctuation before adding more complex clauses.
