Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, many people stream movies shown on internet. Which make some people think theatres and cinemas are no longer needed. However, other believes that these placeses are still important for both economically and culturally.

On one hand, many people prefers watching entertainment online, because it is very convenient. The people can watch their favourite movies or shows anytime and anywhere on their mobiles or TVs. In addition, streaming is cheaper than going to cinemas because buying tickets, popcorns, and transport can be expansive. Therefore many people feel staying at home is better option for entertainment.

On the other hand, cinemas and theatres are still important for several reasons. Firstly, they help the economy by creating jobs. Many people work in theatres as ticket seller, cleaner, manager, and preformes. Secondly, going to cinemas and theatres is a great social activity. Friends and families spend thier quality time together outside their home, which help in building stronger relationship.lastly, live theatres shows traditional stories and local cutural alive.

In conclusion, even thought online streaming is fast and convenient. I believe that cinemas and theatres are still essential. They provide jobs, boost the economy, and often a great experience taht can not be matched at home. Therefore government and local communities should continue supporting these venues so people can always enjoy and share their experience together.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both perspectives and give a clear opinion in the conclusion: online viewing is convenient, but cinemas and theatres remain essential. Relevant reasons include lower costs at home, employment, socialising, and preserving local culture. However, the discussion is brief and several points are asserted rather than explained; for example, the cultural value of live theatre is mentioned only in the phrase about keeping local culture alive. The response also falls 32 words short of the required minimum, limiting the space available to develop examples and support your position. To strengthen the response, explain each view more fully and add a specific example, such as how a local production preserves a tradition or supports nearby businesses.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The signposts “On one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and the reasons within the second body paragraph are presented in a sensible order. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some effective progression. To make the links more natural and precise, avoid relying mainly on formulaic transitions and connect each reason to its explanation. For instance, the final point about cultural value could be linked explicitly to the claim that venues should receive continued support. Also check sentence boundaries: “Which make…” is an incomplete sentence, while “relationship.lastly” needs clearer punctuation.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “streaming,” “creating jobs,” “social activity,” and “traditional stories.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “boost the economy” and “quality time.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable word-choice, spelling, or word-form errors reduce accuracy: “expansive” is used where “expensive” is intended, “preformes” is misspelled, and “local cutural alive” does not express the intended idea clearly. Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “movies shown on internet.” Build a more accurate range of collocations and proofread spelling so your ideas sound clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mixture of simple sentences and longer structures, including a reason clause with “because” and a relative clause beginning “which.” The main message is generally understandable, but errors in sentence construction and agreement are frequent enough to affect fluency. For example, “Which make some people think…” is a fragment, “other believes” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, and “many people prefers” should use a plural verb. There are also problems with articles and sentence boundaries, as in “is better option” and “relationship.lastly.” Practise checking each sentence for a complete subject and verb, then review agreement, articles, and punctuation. More accurate control of these basics will make your ideas easier to follow.
