Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, due to rising of online streaming platforms some people think that theatres and cinemas are no longer important but other argue that theatres and cinemas are still important both economicaly and culturally.

On one hand, in this digital age i think it is true that cinemas and theaturus are no longer important because we easily access through the film or movie cheaper than theatres and cinemas. Because monthly subscribtion is much cheaper than a cinema tickets and another advantage is that no one have to go or travell all family mambers sit together in there home and enjoy the movie. There are also some securities concerns to watching movie in cinema .

On the other hand, theatres and cinemas are tradisonal and cultural . Theatres and cinemas are important intwo main reasons .Economically they produces thousand of jobs in the form of actors and techanician ro workers and ticket sellars so they contribute local economy through tourisms and taxes . A big film produce millions from only a one city. culturally theatres and cinemas are give a much boosting experience which is not possible in home . And it also became a source of making fun which is good for health.

In my point of view in digital age theatres and cinemas are no longer important but i belive that theatures and cinemas are much better in term of revenue generating and in term of providing best experience of watching movies instead of watching them in our home .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both views and give a personal position, so the response addresses the main parts of the prompt. The first body paragraph explains the convenience and lower cost of streaming, while the next identifies employment, local economic activity and the shared viewing experience as reasons cinemas remain valuable. However, these points are mostly asserted rather than developed: for example, the claim that a film earns millions in one city is not explained or supported, and the cultural argument is less clear than the economic one. Your conclusion also appears to favour cinemas despite saying they are “no longer important,” leaving your position difficult to interpret. The response is 233 words, below the 250-word minimum; 18 words copied from the prompt were not counted. Develop each view with a specific example and state a consistent opinion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a concluding opinion. The signposts “On one hand” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the comparison, and the ideas within each paragraph are generally related. However, progression is sometimes mechanical, with repeated openings such as “Theatres and cinemas,” and some connections are unclear. For instance, “There are also some securities concerns” is added without explaining how it supports the case for online viewing. The final sentence combines opposing claims, which weakens the sense of a clear conclusion. Use linking phrases to show cause and contrast, and organise each paragraph around a main point followed by explanation or an example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “online streaming platforms,” “monthly subscription,” “local economy,” “tourism,” and “culturally.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main ideas, but the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or spellings make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “theaturus,” “tradisonal,” “thousand of jobs,” and “a much boosting experience.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “a big film produce millions from only a one city.” Aim for accurate collocations and word forms, and check spelling carefully. More precise terms such as “box-office revenue,” “employment opportunities,” and “immersive experience” would help express your economic and cultural points clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a contrast between the two views and a sentence beginning “Because monthly subscription…”. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, plurals and sentence boundaries can make meaning harder to follow. For example, “other argue” lacks agreement, “no one have to go” has an incorrect verb form, and “they produces” does not agree with its subject. The sentence beginning “Because” is incomplete, while “movie. There” needs a space and clearer punctuation. Practise building complete sentences with one main clause and a correctly connected explanation. Check subject–verb agreement, articles and plural forms during proofreading.
