Student answer (Band 5.0)

In contemporary society, the question of whether theaters and cinemas are no longer significant has sparked considerable debate. While some people believe that in the modern society, theatres and cinemas are no longer important as individuals can watch all entertainment they want online, others argue that theatres and cinemas are crucial for both economically and culturally. Although both perspectives have some merit, I firmly believe that cinemas are still important because cinemas provieds acess to the movies which is not released and also provide feel like that everythng was done in the real life.

Those who support theatres and cinemas are no longer significant often argue that the public can watch all the entertainment they want online. The main reason is that online platform provides more variety of movies at home. For instance, harry potter was watcheched by most of the individuals on youtube. Admittedly, this argument has some validity because they get that same entertainment without any charges. Nevertheless, this perspective is less convincing because newly released movies come firstly in cinemas then after 2-3 months are released on otts.

Conversely, supporters of theaters and cinemas argue that these places provides better entertainment. This view is more convincing because cinemas provieds acess to the movies which is not released and also provide feel like that everythng was done in the real life. For example, thyeri life stoory movie is relised in PVR cinema and this movie is not released till now on otts. Therefore, I believe that cinemas and theatres are still important as previous.

In conclusion, although online platform has some merit because they provide free entertainment, the arguments for watching movies in cinemas and theatres are more convincing because they help to develop nation. For this reason, I firmly believe that theatres and cinemas provides more entertainment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You discuss both views and state a clear preference for cinemas, especially in the introduction and conclusion. The point that online platforms offer variety and convenient viewing is relevant, and you contrast this with the cinema’s early access to new releases. However, the response only partially develops the task: the economic and cultural importance named in the prompt is not explained, and the claim that cinemas “help to develop nation” is not supported. Examples such as Harry Potter on YouTube and a film unavailable on streaming are difficult to verify or explain, so they do little to extend the argument. Develop each side with specific reasons and examples, and make your opinion more precise than simply saying cinemas provide more entertainment.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “For instance,” “Nevertheless,” and “Conversely” help signal relationships between ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the example about Harry Potter does not clearly demonstrate the claim about online variety, and the cinema paragraph repeats the same point made in the introduction. References such as “this view” and “they” can also leave the reader unsure which idea or group is meant. To improve, give each paragraph a distinct central point, connect examples explicitly to that point, and avoid repeating the same reason in several places.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “digital age,” “online platform,” “newly released movies,” and “entertainment,” and you attempt more formal expressions such as “sparked considerable debate.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand, including “provieds acess,” “everythng,” “watcheched,” and “thyeri life stoory.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “provide feel like that everythng was done in the real life” and “as previous.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and choosing natural collocations; use precise terms for the cinema experience, such as “immersive viewing,” rather than describing it vaguely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a concession structure beginning “Although both perspectives have some merit” and a contrast introduced by “While.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction and agreement. For example, “theatres and cinemas are crucial for both economically and culturally” uses an incorrect grammatical pattern, while “online platform provides” and “theatres and cinemas provides” have article or subject–verb agreement problems. The sentence about cinemas providing a feeling that everything happened in real life is also difficult to follow because its structure is incomplete or unclear. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and parallel forms, then proofread each sentence for a complete, clear structure.
