Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is widely argued by some people that with rise of digital platforms theaters and cinemas have become redundant whereas many argue that theatres and cinemas are still significant for their economical and cultural value.
Digital platforms have become the most common source of entertainment because of their benefits like accessibility and variety of content. Platforms like Netflix and Hotstar provide a users acess to global entertainment resources. For example, a person living in remote corners of a village in South America have access to dramas or movies all around the world. This allows user to watch any content they wish without any restrictions. Secondly, it is very convenient as it allows viewers to watch at their own pace and suitable time. This makes it easier for viewers to watch movies whenever they choose to.
On the other hand, theaters and cinemas offer a better experience to viewers. In theaters, artists are able to connect with a live audience and convey emotions though their voice, expressions and sourroundings of a place. In theatres the act plays in parts, change in lightings and ambience that modulates and affects audience's emotion. Also, theatres are a medium of narrating cultural and traditional stories. For example, in India, every year during a festival season of nine nights called "Navratri" plays of Ramayan, an ancient epic is enacted across the country with different adaptions explaining the story and connecting people with culture and traditions.
While use of digital platform for entertainment is increasing and extremely popular, theaters and cinema still play a huge role in our society by diplaying cultural stories and plays which binds people and is an essential source for learning.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both perspectives and give a clear final view: online platforms are convenient and varied, while theatres remain valuable for live performance and cultural storytelling. The examples of remote access to international films and Navratri performances in India make the discussion relevant. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The online-entertainment paragraph mainly lists accessibility and convenience, without considering whether these benefits make cinemas less necessary or discussing their economic impact. The opposing view is more specifically illustrated through live performance and cultural traditions, but its economic importance is not addressed. To strengthen the response, explain these points further and make your position explicit earlier, rather than leaving the clearest statement until the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on digital platforms, a contrasting paragraph on theatres, and a concluding opinion. Transitions such as “On the other hand” and “While” help signal the shift between views, and the examples generally follow the points they support. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some features of stronger progression. However, the first body paragraph moves from global access to convenience without a particularly developed link between the ideas, and the final paragraph introduces the conclusion in a compressed way. Some references, such as “This allows user,” are not fully clear. Use more precise referencing and develop each paragraph’s central point before moving to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “accessibility,” “global entertainment resources,” “live audience,” “ambience,” and “cultural and traditional stories.” These choices help communicate the contrast between online viewing and live performance, and some less common terms are attempted. However, several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “economical value,” “sourroundings of a place,” and “modulates and affects audience's emotion.” Spelling errors including “acess,” “sourroundings,” and “diplaying” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for example, use “economic value,” “the performance setting,” and “shapes the audience’s emotions.” This would make your vocabulary more precise without changing your ideas.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a subordinate clause in “because of their benefits” and a relative clause in “which binds people.” Most sentences remain understandable, and errors do not generally prevent the reader from following your argument. Some grammatical inaccuracies are nevertheless noticeable. For example, “a person … have access” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “a users” and “This allows user” show problems with articles and singular/plural forms. In “In theatres the act plays in parts,” the sentence structure is unclear, and punctuation after introductory phrases is sometimes missing. Review agreement, articles, and sentence construction, and use commas consistently after introductory clauses or phrases.
