Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is argued by few individuals that movie theaters are no longer important in the technological era because people can watch all leisure activities on the internet, while others believe that they are still crucial for economy growth and culture representation. In recent years, the marketing of cinemas and theatres significantly decrease. In my opinion, i believe that theathres and movie halls are still important.

On the one hand, some individuals who say that in the technological era, movie theatres are no longer available because people can watch all the activities online they want. It is queit beneficial for those who do not like much crowd and watch entertainments alone. Due to the internet they have to access to all the things online. For instance, a student who have to watch a new movie but they do not have time to go to the cinem hall so they can watch it on his home alone. Therefore, it can be beneficial for those who are busy in other activities.

On the other hand, others argue that picture houses are crucial both economically and culturally. Because in the cinema, large screen and surrounded system provide an immersive experience. Watching films together helps people socialise and spend quality time with friends. and it give a good tax to the government.

In conclusion, both have there own benefits but it depends on person personality. From my perspective, watching movie in the theatres have more benefits beacuase it give jobs to the staff and tax to

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the discussion and state a preference for theatres and cinemas, so the response is relevant to the task. The online-viewing paragraph gives a practical example of a busy student, while the opposing view mentions immersive viewing, socialising, employment and tax revenue. However, these points are only briefly explained, and the economic and cultural importance is not developed in enough detail. The conclusion says the choice depends on personal preference, which weakens the clarity of your own position before you again favour cinemas. Also, the opening claim that cinema marketing has declined is not clearly connected to the question. Develop each main reason with explanation and a specific example, and keep your position consistent throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and some links between ideas are unclear. For example, “Due to the internet they have to access to all the things online” does not clearly explain the preceding point, while the cinema paragraph moves quickly from the viewing experience to socialising and then tax. The conclusion also ends abruptly, leaving the final idea incomplete. Use clearer cause-and-effect links, develop one point at a time, and ensure the final paragraph fully summarises your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary, including “technological era,” “immersive experience,” “socialise,” and “economically and culturally,” which helps communicate the topic. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, sometimes making meaning less clear. Examples include “economy growth,” “watch entertainments,” “give a good tax,” and “picture houses”; the last is understandable but less natural in this context. Spelling errors such as “queit,” “theathres,” and “beacuase” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural combinations and check spelling carefully. For instance, describe cinemas as contributing to “economic growth” and generating “tax revenue,” rather than using less idiomatic phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a relative clause in “a student who have to watch a new movie” and a reason clause beginning “because.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Examples include “a student who have,” “the marketing … significantly decrease,” and “Watching films together helps people socialise … and it give.” The sentence beginning “Because in the cinema” is also a fragment, and “and it give” is incorrectly joined to the preceding sentence. Practise building complete sentences and checking subject–verb agreement and verb tense before adding more complex clauses.
