Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some individuals believe that theatres and cinemas are useless now as we can watch all the entertainment online. On the other hand, some people say that cinamas and theatres generate income and revive the culture. In my opinion, i think watching movies and shows in cinema is a completely different experience than watching it online. Both can exist at the same time.
Cinemas and theatres require viewers to pay for shows and movies every single time. People have to book in advance and be on time in order to watch a show. In the modern digital age, we have several OTT platforms releasing amazing movies and shows on daily basis. People buy subscriptios of those OTT platforms like Netflix, Prime, Apple TV, Disney and JioHotstar to watch movies at home anytime they want. Similarly, free websites are available as well where individuals can watch entertainment for free of cost. When the content is available for free, people find cinemas and theatres useless and time waste. Actors who used to perform in cinemas also work in movies of OTT platforms. People can watch their favourite actors online for free.
Back in the time, cinemas and theatres used to generate a quite big revenue through movies. People didn't had other entertainment options , so they were willing to pay money. This is not the case now. Production houses need to invest a huge amount of money in marketing, and convince people to get out of their houses to watch a show. Adults can watch movies with their friends and family ocassionally at the cinema. Otherwise , cinemas will remain empty as they are now. Theatres was definitely a part of our culture and tradition, but currently newer generation have no interest in watching live theatres.
To summarise, the trend of watching movies in cinemas is almost dead now. In order to revive it, entertainment company should work really hard to convince people in watching movies in cinema. It's totally a different experience and movie lovers should experience both instead of abadoning one.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You present a relevant opinion—that cinemas and theatres offer a different experience and can coexist with online entertainment—and discuss both online access and the economic and cultural role of venues. However, the two sides are not developed evenly. The case for online viewing is supported with examples of subscriptions, free websites and convenience, while the opposing view is mostly framed as a decline in revenue and attendance. The cultural importance of live theatre is mentioned but not explained, and the conclusion that cinemas are “almost dead” is stronger than the evidence provided. Develop the benefits of shared viewing, live performance or local employment, and support claims with clearer examples to address all parts more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas generally remain on the topic. Basic signposting such as “On the other hand,” “Similarly” and “To summarise” helps readers follow the broad structure. However, progression within the body paragraphs is sometimes loose: the first moves from ticket costs to streaming services, free websites and actors without clearly linking each point to the claim about venues’ importance. The second combines historical revenue, marketing, occasional family visits and theatre traditions, so its central argument is difficult to track. Some transitions are mechanical, and “Otherwise” does not clearly show the relationship between the preceding sentence and the claim that cinemas will remain empty. Group related points and use clearer links.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “OTT platforms,” “production houses,” “revenue,” “marketing” and “culture.” There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “a completely different experience” and “revive it.” However, the range is limited in places and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or informal, which makes parts less precise: “free of cost,” “time waste,” “generate a quite big revenue” and “convince people in watching” are examples. Spelling errors such as “cinamas,” “subscriptios,” “ocassionally” and “abadoning” are noticeable. Build a more accurate range for discussing cultural value and economic impact, and check spelling and natural word combinations during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “When the content is available for free, people find cinemas and theatres useless” and a contrast with “Otherwise.” The overall meaning is usually understandable, but errors in sentence construction and grammatical control are frequent enough to make some statements awkward. Examples include “People didn't had other entertainment options,” “Theatres was definitely a part,” and “newer generation have no interest”; these show problems with verb forms and subject–verb agreement. There are also issues with articles and sentence boundaries, as in “on daily basis” and “In my opinion, i think.” Practise checking agreement, past-tense forms, articles and punctuation, while varying sentence patterns accurately.
