Student answer (Band 5.0)
The debate on importance of theaters and cinemas orignated when online movie streaming platforms became very common and easily accessible to everyone living in a modern society. When platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime became popular due to their services of providing latest movies and series in high resoultion display quality, mostly people stopped going to cinemas and theaters and prefer to watch their favourite movies at homes. With this the ratio of people going to cinemas has reduced to some extent, because for that people have to book a ticket in advance, travel within specific time to reach the venue and stay there for three to four hours until movie ends, this is time consuming and mostly people cant take much time out of their schedules to plan a movie trip. In comparison to that watching movie at home is convenient just get some free time and start streaming.
Due to variety of options available people tend to choose one or another based on their preferences but claiming that theaters and cinemas are no longer important is not a correct fact. Although number of people decreased a little bit but still when a new movie is relased either from Marvel production or any hollywood, cinemas do get full houses on first day of release. Mostly the movies keep on running in cinemas for three to four weeks and still have some amount of audience coming to watch them. Because

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You explain why online viewing is convenient, mentioning the need to book tickets, travel, and spend several hours at a venue, and you begin to challenge the claim that cinemas are no longer important by noting that new releases can attract full houses. However, the response does not adequately discuss the opposing view that theatres and cinemas remain important economically and culturally, and it gives no clear personal opinion. The final sentence is unfinished (“Because”), so the argument is left incomplete. The response also falls short of the required 250 words. To improve, address both views explicitly, state your position, and develop each point with relevant explanation or an example before concluding.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a recognisable progression: it first describes the convenience of streaming, then turns to the continuing appeal of cinemas. Linking phrases such as “In comparison to that” and “Although” help signal this shift. However, the ideas are packed into two long paragraphs, and the second paragraph ends abruptly with “Because,” leaving the reasoning unfinished. Some connections are also unclear: “Due to variety of options available” does not specify which options, and the contrast between a small decrease in attendance and full houses needs clearer explanation. Use separate paragraphs for each view and your opinion, and finish with a concise conclusion. More precise referencing and a wider range of linking expressions would make the progression easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonably varied set of topic-related vocabulary, including “streaming platforms,” “high resolution,” “full houses,” and “audience.” These choices make the subject clear and show some ability to discuss convenience and cinema attendance. However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, such as “orignated,” “resoultion,” and “relased.” Some phrases are also awkward or repetitive, including “services of providing latest movies” and repeated use of “people” and “movies.” Aim for more natural collocations and accurate spelling, while retaining the relevant vocabulary you already use. For example, describe platforms as “offering recent films” and say that cinemas “attract audiences” rather than that they “get full houses.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a time clause (“until movie ends”) and a concessive structure beginning “Although.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but errors in sentence construction and punctuation sometimes make the writing difficult to follow. For instance, “In comparison to that watching movie at home is convenient just get some free time and start streaming” joins several ideas without a clear grammatical connection. There are also missing articles and agreement or verb-form problems, as in “number of people decreased” and “people … prefer.” Break long sentences into shorter units, check articles and verb agreement, and use full stops or conjunctions to connect clauses accurately.
