Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people argue that, theaters and cinemas are irrelevant as people can watch all the entertainment in online as technology is rising, while others believe, theater and cinemas hold economical and cultural importance. This essay will examine both the view related to the argument.
On the one hand, as technology increase theater theaters and cinemas are becoming less important. This is primarily because internet provided a much more way of entertainment which helps people to have fun and enjoy. Furthermore, movies and series are now available in the different platforms such as netflix, prime videos, etc which helps people to save some money as well as time to reach theaters. For instance, my father used to go to the theater once a week when I was child but now my father watch movies in our home television and rearly visit or once in a months to theater. As technology increasing, theaters and cinemas lose some attention and rush but still relevant.
From the alternative perspective, many believe that theaters and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally. This is largely due to the fact that even today people prefer to see some sort of movies in big screen in theaters with the person they loved and enjoy the moments or feelings with friends and family. This means people love to watch the movie in theaters like a culture they are following. For example, even though movies are available in netflix, people visit the theaters and cinemas to watch movies and movies are earning thousands of crores from theaters. This shows theater and cinemas are still relevant.
In conclusion, although both theaters and cinemas are no longer that much important as people have many medium like netflix, prime videos, etc to watch and at the same time movies are earning thousands of crores from the theaters and cinemas which show economical and cultural importance. While there are valid arguments for both side I personally believe that theaters and cinemas still hold relevance.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and give a clear personal position in the conclusion: you acknowledge online platforms while stating that cinemas “still hold relevance.” The first body paragraph explains convenience and savings, and the second gives cultural and economic reasons, including cinema revenue. These are relevant points, but some are less fully developed than others. For example, the cultural claim that watching films together is “like a culture they are following” is not clearly explained, and the economic point about earnings would be stronger with a specific explanation of how cinemas support jobs or local businesses. The response therefore covers the task, but fuller explanation and more precise supporting examples would make the discussion more convincing. (Nine words copied from the task prompt were not counted.)
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your opinion. Signposting such as “On the one hand” and “From the alternative perspective” helps readers follow the discussion. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The first paragraph ends by saying cinemas “lose some attention and rush but still relevant,” which shifts abruptly from the argument about declining use to a qualification. The conclusion also combines several ideas in one long sentence, making the contrast harder to follow. Use clearer links between claims and examples, and ensure each paragraph develops one main point in a logical sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “digital age,” “platforms,” “cultural importance,” and “relevant.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, sometimes making meaning less precise. Examples include “a much more way of entertainment,” “lose some attention and rush,” and “movies are earning thousands of crores from theaters.” Repetition of “theaters and cinemas,” “important,” and “movies” also limits flexibility. Aim to use more precise expressions for convenience, audience attendance, and economic contribution, and check spelling and word forms such as “rarely.” This would make your arguments clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “as,” “because,” and “although,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with agreement, articles, and verb forms. For example, “as technology increase” should be “as technology increases,” while “my father watch movies” needs “watches.” In “when I was child,” an article is missing, and “people prefer to see … with the person they loved” has inconsistent number and tense. The opening sentence also uses commas in places that interrupt the structure. Review subject–verb agreement and article use, and edit longer sentences to ensure each clause is grammatically complete.
