Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people belive that in the technology era, theatres and cinemas are no longer important as people can watch all the entertainment through online where others argues that cinemas and theatres are still important ecnomically and culturally. In my opinion, I belive that cinemas and theatres are still important because it reflects our culture, tradition and it serves ecnomically as well.

On the one hand, nowadays advance technology increase day by day so people do not go to cinemas and theatres becasue in today world people can watch all kind of entertainment online. There are a lot of webistes, apps, netflix, amazon where people can wasily watch without any problem. However, the cost will be reduced because they do not have to go to the theatres and buy tickets. While, whenever person gets a time they can easily watch the shows, series without any stress because of the time. Technology made it easier for the person to watch their favriote shows easily and because of this people can easily watch the foreign shows and they also familiar with the other culture and tradition. Online entertainment also help children to improve their vacublory and foreign language because they can be familiar with the other language. For instance, some people do not have enough time to especially go to the theatres and watch their favriote movie so, whenever they had a free time they just search online and watch from there.

On the other hand, some people belive that cinemas and theatres are still important both economically and culturally. In cinemas and theatres people got more excited while watching the movies because there was a big screen there and while watching in big screen brings a lot of excitment and fun. Theatres also shows the tradition shows where person feel emotionally connected to their culture and norms. While, watching in cinemas also improve the economy because people buys ticket for the shows which contribute in the country economy. For instance, some people are big fans of some actors and they just want to watch their movies in big theatres while watching in cinemas also have a family time because all families members gather to watch the movie.

In conclusion, theatres and cinemas are still important because it reflects the country tradition and person feel emotionally connected to their culture. While watching online also help to watch whenever or everywhere.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a clear opinion: the introduction and conclusion support the continued importance of theatres and cinemas, while the body paragraphs explain the convenience and lower cost of online entertainment and the cultural and economic value of venues. These points are relevant, and examples such as people watching when they have free time help illustrate the online view. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. For example, the economic contribution of ticket sales is mentioned but not explained beyond that, and the cultural argument could show more specifically how live performances or shared cinema experiences preserve culture. The discussion therefore covers the task, but its support is uneven; develop each main point with a clearer explanation or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” make the discussion easy to follow, and the main ideas generally appear in relevant sections. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or unclear. “While” is repeatedly used where a different link or a new sentence would be more suitable, and the final sentence beginning “While watching online” does not connect smoothly to the conclusion’s main claim. Some sentences also contain several points joined together, making the progression less clear. Use linking expressions more selectively, and organise each body paragraph around one central point followed by its explanation and example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “economically,” “culturally,” “tradition,” “emotionally connected,” and “contribute.” However, the range is limited and some word choices, collocations, and spelling errors are noticeable. Examples include “watch all the entertainment through online,” “big fans of some actors,” and repeated use of “important” and “watch.” There are also misspellings such as “belive,” “becasue,” and “vacublory,” which reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the argument, but more precise and varied phrasing would strengthen it. Practise common collocations for entertainment, cultural value, and economic impact, and proofread spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because” and “so,” and the overall meaning is usually clear. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with subject–verb agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries. For example, “others argues” should be “others argue,” “people buys ticket” needs plural agreement, and “all families members” should be “all family members.” The sentence beginning “While, whenever person gets a time” also has an incomplete or awkward structure, while missing spaces after full stops affect punctuation. To improve, check agreement and article use, and divide long sentences into complete, clearly punctuated clauses.
