Student answer (Band 4.5)

Nowadays people often argues that in this rapid grow of technology we do not need theatres and cinemas as we can watch everything at our phone or digital devices available at home but mostly locals still prefer going to cinema or theatres and having a good dayout.

In this society mostly people prefer to stay at home be cozy and comfartable and prep there nown mealls with the movie night and have a privacy,as they have all type of didgital devices available at home. As in the other community still prefer going out as maybe they dont have such things available at home or not comfartable with having people at there houses for example, as in for my cousins they love going out to theatres and cinemas as it is much easier to acess what u wanna watch or what you like to eat with no hustle in cooking for anyone no prepping the house for peoples.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You touch on the contrast between staying home to watch entertainment and going out to cinemas or theatres, and the example about your cousins gives a personal illustration. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: it does not explain the economic or cultural importance of theatres and cinemas, and the online-entertainment view is mentioned without being developed. Your own opinion is also not stated clearly. The response is 157 words, below the required 250, so there is not enough space to develop the two views and give reasons. To improve, state your position directly, explain each side with relevant reasons, and add a specific example before concluding.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic contrast between people who prefer staying at home and those who go out, and phrases such as “as” and “for example” attempt to connect ideas. However, the response is not arranged into clear paragraphs, and the progression from the general opening to the discussion of communities and then your cousins is difficult to follow. Several ideas are joined in one long sentence, while the relationship between them is not always clear. For example, the sentence beginning “As in the other community” does not clearly establish how this group differs from the first. Use separate paragraphs for the two views, followed by your opinion, and make each paragraph develop one main point with clear linking expressions.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant everyday vocabulary, including “digital devices,” “privacy,” and “going out,” so the reader can identify the general topic. However, the range is basic and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear, such as “rapid grow,” “comfartable,” “nown mealls,” and “hustle.” Some expressions are also imprecise or informal for this essay, including “what u wanna watch” and “good dayout.” Aim for accurate topic vocabulary and standard written forms. For instance, you could refer to “streaming services,” “the shared cinema experience,” or “the cultural value of live performances,” and check spelling carefully before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to express reasons and contrasts through longer sentences, but grammatical control is inconsistent and the range of sentence structures is limited. Errors include subject–verb agreement in “people often argues,” missing or incorrect articles and possessives in “at our phone” and “there houses,” and faulty sentence construction in “As in the other community still prefer going out.” Commas and spacing are also unreliable, particularly around “privacy,as.” These problems sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “although,” “because,” and “while.” Check agreement, articles, and punctuation in each sentence.
