Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the digital world that we are living in, few people prefer watching the content online instead of watching them in theatres and cinemas. However, other few prefer theatres and cinemas for the livelihood of our culture and for the growth of our economy. I will discuss both the views in the upcoming paragraphs.

Firstly, considering the fast pace life we have, everybody wants to do everything online at the comfort of their home. As it saves, lots of time and money. For example, if they want to watch a movie or a show in theatre, they will have to travel by car or public transport. Not only that, they will have to leave early to reach at the destination on time. Also, they will eat food outside, as nobody wants to cook the meal after getting tired. However, that would not be the case, if you want to enjoy online content. No need to travel, dont have to spend money on food just enjoy your home cook meal or enjoy outside food by ordering it online.

Secondly, to stay connected with your culture or if you love to enjoy the slow pace shows and wants to see all the hard work all the artist put in to prepare for their role then theatres are best. Simultaneously, people are busy with they own lifes and with their phones they do not have time for each other. Hence, watching movies in cinemas is the best way of spending quality time with the family members. That can help in boosting the economy of the cinema along with the local food vendors who can not sell their food online and are majorly dependent on the offline customers.

In my opinion, watching theatre and cinemas offline has more values as its support the small businesses and we get to know out family more. The younger members can learn more about our culture and get to know how things used to work in their parents era.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and give a clear preference for in-person theatres and cinemas in the conclusion. The online-viewing paragraph offers relevant practical reasons, including saving travel time and avoiding extra food costs, while the second paragraph links venues to cultural experience, family time and local businesses. These points meet the task, but they are not developed equally: the economic and cultural importance of theatres is asserted more than explained, and the cultural argument could use a specific example. Your opinion is clear, though “we get to know our family more” is not fully explained as a benefit of attending a cinema. Develop the key claims with concrete examples and explain how they support your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a concluding opinion. “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In my opinion” make the progression easy to follow, and the examples generally sit with the point they support. However, some linking is mechanical, and a few connections are unclear. For instance, “As it saves, lots of time and money” is separated from the preceding sentence and does not form a complete thought; “Simultaneously” also does not clearly express the relationship between busy lives and family cinema visits. Use fewer formulaic transitions and connect each reason explicitly to the main claim. Clearer referencing would also help readers follow phrases such as “that would not be the case.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss convenience, culture and economic effects, including “public transport,” “quality time,” “local food vendors” and “offline customers.” This gives the response a relevant range, but several choices or collocations sound unnatural or imprecise, such as “fast pace life,” “for the livelihood of our culture,” and “boosting the economy of the cinema.” There is also repetition of “watch,” “online,” and “theatres and cinemas,” which limits flexibility. Aim for more precise expressions and vary how you refer to venues and viewing. Check word forms and spelling as well: “artist” should be plural in this context, and “lifes” needs the correct plural form.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including conditional structures such as “if they want to watch a movie” and a contrast beginning “However.” Meaning is generally understandable, but some errors in sentence formation, agreement and punctuation remain. “As it saves, lots of time and money” is a fragment, and “everybody wants to do everything online … As it saves” needs to be joined into a complete sentence. In “people … wants” and “its support,” the verb forms do not agree with their subjects. Other examples include “they own lifes” and “the hard work all the artist put in.” Review subject–verb agreement, plural forms, and sentence boundaries, and proofread punctuation so that complex ideas remain clear.
