Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
In our modren time, the digitalisation of movies by streaming services have made theatres and cinemas no longer important, as all the entertainment a person might want is in one click away.
Has this degitalisation made cinemas and theaters no longer important? Or is their importance resides in the cultural and economical weight they carry?
Personally i believe that cinemas and theatres are more important than what people think, and should not be neglicted just because streaming services are easier to access. In defense of my opinion i give the following reasons :
Firstly, cinemas carry history. most cinemas theatres around the world are built decades ago, some might be more than a century old, and if not, its culture is that old, and should be kept alive by attending them.
Second attending cinemas and theatres is important for improving the city's / community's economy because the money flows around its businesses.
Lastly, personally i consider cinemas and theatres the number one spot for a fun hangouts with friends and families and i believe many people share the same idea with me, althought some people choose to do movie nights at home, yet the culture of cinema nights is stilll around and one of the best ways to spend the weekend.
In conclusion cinemas and theatres are still important and should not be neglicted by people, because they carry a lot of cultural and economical weight, and its culture does not belong to any particular group of people, it belongs to everyone around the globe, that is what makes it beautiful.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you believe cinemas and theatres remain important, and you give relevant reasons involving cultural heritage, local economic activity, and shared social experiences. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the opposing case is only briefly acknowledged in the opening claim that streaming puts entertainment “in one click away” and the later reference to movie nights at home. Explain more fully why online viewing appeals to people—for example, convenience, choice, or lower cost—and weigh this against your reasons. Your supporting points are also asserted more than developed: the economic benefit, in particular, needs a concrete explanation or example. This partial treatment and limited development keep the response from addressing the task fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a sequence of supporting points, and a conclusion. “Firstly,” “Second,” and “Lastly” help signal the order of your reasons, and the conclusion returns to your central view. However, the progression is somewhat list-like rather than fully developed: the economic point moves on quickly, and the opposing view is not given its own clear place in the discussion. Some links are awkward or unclear, such as “In defense of my opinion i give the following reasons,” while the question in the introduction does not lead into a balanced comparison. Use paragraphs to separate the two views and connect each claim to its explanation or example; this would make the argument easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “streaming services,” “cultural,” “economical,” and “businesses,” and phrases such as “the money flows around its businesses” show an attempt to express economic effects. However, the range is limited and some choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which can make the meaning less precise. Examples include “digitalisation of movies,” “fun hangouts,” and “theatres carry history.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “modren,” “degitalisation,” “neglicted,” and “althought.” Aim for more precise topic language and check spelling carefully. For instance, describe venues as preserving cultural heritage and explain how visitor spending supports nearby businesses.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a question in the introduction and a sentence beginning “Lastly,” that combines contrasting ideas. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, sentence construction, articles, and punctuation occur often enough to affect fluency. For example, “the digitalisation … have made” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “is their importance resides” combines incompatible structures. The sentence beginning “Lastly” also runs together several ideas without clear punctuation. Practise building accurate complex sentences with one clear main clause, and check agreement and sentence boundaries. More reliable control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to understand.
