Student answer (Band 6.0)
People nowadays can enjoy all the entertainments contents on online platforms. Some argue that theatres and cinemas are still necessary for both economical and cultural reasons, whereas others believe the opposite. In my opininon, theatres and cinemas still hold importance both economically and culturally.
Peviously, cinemas used to be the hub of social gatherings, and people were also inclined towards theatres also. However, online entertainment sites are gradually diminishing this trend, while offline involvement is still necessary from some financial aspects. For example, a film is less likely to earn over its targeted budget if it is only streamed online. To overcome this, involvement of cinema halls are mendatory as offline ticket prices are reasonably high from the perspective of the film makers. Moreover, the same fact also applies for the theatres. Besides that, there are cultural factors involved. Quality time with family member can be spent by watching movies togther in the cinema halls. In fact, it is one of the easiest and fastest way of family gathering and it helps to strengthen the bond by experiencing same story-telling through cinemas. Another fact is that offline theatres provide the opportunities to perform infront of live audiences and boost the confidence of the newcomes in the industry.
On the downside, from the consumers' perspective, online platforms provide access to the same contents with 20-30% of the offline prices. Moreover, most of the people nowadays own smart tv with wide amoled screen, which can offer a good visual experience similar to the cinemas. Additionally, people can arrange watch-party with friends and family to stream entertaining contents. For instance, they may consider the cinemas and theatres less important. However, I believe that these are some cheap and inefficient alternative, which will never be able to serve primary purposes of cinemas and threas. The primary purposes are to make people engage offline and let them spend quality time together and to support the artists of the industries. This is only possible if people choose offline entertainment.
To conclude, people may have different perspectives on entertainment media. However, I believe that the cinemas and theatres are still important to support the artists properly and to make the family bond stronger, which add economical and cultural values to this issue.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and state a consistent opinion: cinemas and theatres remain important for economic and cultural reasons. The response gives relevant support, including cinema ticket revenue, family outings, live performance opportunities, and the lower cost and convenience of streaming. This covers the task well, and the examples make your position clear. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that a film is less likely to meet its budget if streamed online needs clarification, and the economic contribution of theatres is mentioned but not developed. The cultural case is more fully explored through family bonding and opportunities for performers. To strengthen the response further, explain the mechanisms behind your economic claims and develop the opposing view with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting the continued importance of venues, a paragraph presenting the online-entertainment view and your rebuttal, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress logically, and signposts such as “On the downside” and “To conclude” help readers follow the argument. Some linking is mechanical or imprecise, however. “Besides that” and “Another fact” introduce points without showing their exact relationship, while “For instance” does not clearly connect the watch-party example to the claim that venues may seem less important. References such as “the same fact” are also vague. Use more precise transitions and make the connection between each example and its claim explicit to create smoother progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “social gatherings,” “offline involvement,” “live audiences,” and “visual experience,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “from the consumers’ perspective.” However, noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision: “entertainments contents,” “economical,” “mendatory,” “newcomes,” and “threas” are examples. Some expressions are awkward or repetitive, including “same contents” and repeated use of “fact.” These errors do not prevent understanding, but they make parts of the response less natural. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations—for example, “economic reasons,” “entertainment content,” and “live performance”—to improve accuracy and flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including contrast clauses (“whereas others believe the opposite”) and a relative clause (“which can offer a good visual experience”). Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “involvement of cinema halls are” (subject–verb agreement), “Quality time with family member” (article and number), and “one of the easiest and fastest way” (plural agreement). The sentence beginning “The primary purposes are…” also has an unclear parallel structure. Review agreement, articles, and plural forms, and check that coordinated phrases follow the same grammatical pattern. More consistently accurate complex sentences would make the argument easier to read and show stronger control.
