Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify both perspectives: online entertainment is convenient and may save time and money, while cinemas and theatres can contribute to a country’s economy. You also give a personal preference for using the internet. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: the cultural importance of theatres and cinemas is not discussed, and the economic point is supported only by the brief reference to India’s film industry. Your opinion is stated, but not explained beyond saying that going to cinemas is time-consuming. The response is also 126 words below the required minimum, leaving too little space to develop the discussion. To improve, explain each view with specific reasons and examples, address both economic and cultural value, and justify your own position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation: the opening introduces online viewing, the next paragraph turns to cinemas and theatres, and the final sentence gives your opinion. This helps the reader recognise the main stages of your response. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited, and several ideas are listed without showing how they connect. For example, the claims that people watch on phones, save time and money, and use televisions or tablets are not developed into a clear chain of reasoning. Linking phrases such as “According to people” are repeated and do not always establish a precise relationship between ideas. Use clear topic sentences, then explain and illustrate each point; connect the paragraphs with purposeful transitions and refer clearly to the views being discussed.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “internet,” “entertainment,” “economy,” “film industry,” and “time-consuming,” so the general subject is usually understandable. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear, such as “globle village,” “poeple,” “Cinmas,” and “financialy.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “entertain himself in home” and “take cares of time.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and a wider range of terms for discussing access, cultural value, employment, and revenue. Proofreading spelling and choosing precise expressions will make your ideas easier to follow and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The response relies mainly on short, simple statements, with a few attempts to connect clauses using “so” and “because.” This limited range makes it difficult to express more developed comparisons or explanations. Frequent errors in sentence formation and agreement sometimes distort meaning. For example, “All people connected to each others” lacks a finite verb, while “they entertain himself” has incorrect pronoun agreement; “the film Industry playing” also needs a correctly formed verb. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including missing spaces after full stops and unnecessary capitals within sentences. Practise building accurate complete sentences first, then add controlled complex structures using clauses such as “although” and “because.” Check subject–verb agreement, pronouns, articles, and sentence boundaries during revision.
