Student answer (Band 4.5)

some people says that in present age ,threaters and cinemas are no more significant as people can watch all the entertainment they want on internet.Others claim that threaters and cinemas are still significant both economically and culturally.

Overall, in my opinion threaters and cinemas are no longer important as people can watch all the stuff they need for entertaining themselves online.

Both threaters and cinemas may be important before when there is no internet access and people dont have smart phones. At that time people have this only source of entertainment, for watching movies, dramas, plays. They have to visit a specific place where the threaters or cinemas are located. They may be located very far from their residents. Now a days people have access of internet and everyone has their on private smartphones. They can easily watch whatever they want to on phones in order to entertain themselves,They dont had to travel or visit a specific place in order to entertain themselves. They can entertain themselves in their own home ,a comfortable place. From my experience i have a bad experience in visting cinema.Once i planned a movie night with my cousins in a cinema which was very far from my house. We reached there after travelling an hour almost. When we reach there after the long journey, there were so crowd there that we cant get the tickets. And with heavy hearts we return to our home.

At last, both these views are based on choice the group of people made for their selves .some want to go to visit a threater or cinemas to entertain themselves and some choose comfort at home on internet .I will also choose online entertainment because of some of my past experiences and the comfort that i found at home.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

Your opinion is clear: you favour online entertainment because it is convenient and you describe a disappointing cinema visit. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the case for theatres’ and cinemas’ economic and cultural importance is not really explained. The paragraph about the past mainly contrasts access to entertainment then and now; it does not show how venues support jobs, local businesses, artists, or shared cultural experiences. The personal example is relevant to your preference but cannot replace a developed discussion of the opposing view. To strengthen the response, explain at least one economic and one cultural benefit, then compare these with online convenience and show how they shape your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has a recognisable overall shape: an introduction and opinion, a paragraph about online convenience, a personal example, and a concluding preference. This gives the reader a basic route through your ideas. However, the discussion does not progress evenly because the opposing view is introduced but not developed, and the final paragraph repeats the preference rather than drawing together the two sides. Some links are abrupt, such as “At last,” before the conclusion, while repeated references to people entertaining themselves make the connections feel mechanical. Organise the body into one paragraph for the benefits of venues and one for online access, using clear topic sentences and references that show how each point relates to the question.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use basic vocabulary that communicates your main point, including “access of internet,” “private smartphones,” and “comfortable place at home.” However, the same words and ideas recur, especially “important,” “entertain,” and “specific place,” so the range is limited for discussing this topic. Several choices are inaccurate or awkward, such as “threaters” for “theatres,” “all the stuff,” and “bad experience in visting cinema.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause, although the intended meaning is generally recoverable. Build a more precise topic vocabulary for both sides, including terms for employment, cultural events, live performance, convenience, and streaming, and check spelling and natural word combinations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt some longer sentences, for example, “They can easily watch whatever they want to on phones in order to entertain themselves,” and use a conditional idea about access before the internet. However, sentence structures are mostly simple or joined with commas, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation. Examples include “some people says,” “people dont had to travel,” and “When we reach there,” where the verb forms do not fit the intended time. Comma splices and missing sentence boundaries also appear in the cinema anecdote. Practise accurate past-tense narration and subject–verb agreement, and separate complete ideas with full stops. Then add a few controlled complex sentences using clauses such as “although” or “whereas.”
