Student answer (Band 6.0)
Due to the technological advancement, some proponents believe theaters and cinema will no longer be essential as people can watch all the entertainment programs online. Whilst other believe theaters and cinema are still important both economically and culturally. Both the views are elaborated before stating my opinion.
Advancement of technology like OTT platforms has made it easy for the public to view any entertainment program online. And it is convinent to pay for the subscription rather than paying in theaters and cinemas. It has overall increase the accessibility by providing the option to view different cultural and regional programs. For instance, Korean shows have very high demand in India, people enjoy watching shows from different regions.
Although, online entertainment is convinent and fesiable but it cannot match with the experience of a theater or cinema. It provides people with opportunities to interact with others which is vital for the localities to survive. Spending money for a cinematic experience is worth the money. Movies that have 3-D effects and are watched using special glasses should be watched in a theater mainly becasue of the experience but also individual setup can be too expensive. For example, watching a movie with friends in a theater has a different experience in onces life.
In conclusion, even though the technology evolves, there are some experiences which feels better when shared with group of people instead of being alone. And so, I believe that theater and cinema will remain a crucial part of the society both economically and culturally.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and give a clear opinion: online platforms offer convenient access to varied entertainment, while cinemas provide a shared experience and may remain culturally and economically significant. The examples of Korean programmes in India and watching a 3-D film help make the discussion relevant. Your position is also clear in the conclusion. However, the economic and cultural importance of theatres is not fully explained: the point about interaction is asserted, but its benefit to local communities is not developed, and the economic argument is mostly about the value of an individual ticket. To strengthen the response, explain more directly how venues support jobs, local businesses, or cultural events, and extend the online-viewing argument with a specific consequence or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph for each view, and a conclusion that restates your position. This makes the discussion easy to follow, and transitions such as “Although” and “In conclusion” signal the direction of the argument. Some linking is mechanical or awkward, however. The opening sentence of the second body paragraph begins “Although” but then adds “but,” creating an unnecessary double contrast, while “And so” starts the final sentence in a conversational way. The introduction also promises that both views will be elaborated before your opinion, but your opinion is mainly stated at the end. Use more natural transitions and clearer links between claims and supporting explanations to make progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “OTT platforms,” “accessibility,” “regional programs,” “3-D effects,” and “cinematic experience,” so the reader can understand the main ideas. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “localities to survive.” However, the range and control are uneven: several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, including “conv inent” (intended as “convenient”), “fesiable,” “in onces life,” and “theaters and cinema” when referring to venues generally. Repetition of “experience” and “important” also limits precision. Work on accurate spelling, natural collocations, and varied terms for venues and viewing. For example, “feasible” is not the best word for ease of access; “practical” or “convenient” would fit better.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including a contrast clause beginning “Although” and a relative clause in “Movies that have 3-D effects.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make sentences awkward. For example, “some proponents believe theaters and cinema will” has a number mismatch, and “It has overall increase the accessibility” uses an incorrect verb form. The sentence “Although, online entertainment is … but it cannot match” has faulty clause construction, while “there are some experiences which feels better” has subject–verb disagreement. Review agreement, verb forms, and how to structure concessive clauses; for instance, use either “Although …, it cannot…” or “Online entertainment is …, but it cannot…”. More consistently accurate complex sentences would improve control.
