Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some individuals argue about the medium of entertainment that, in the era of digitalisation, movie theatres and cinemas are losing their customers as people enjoy them online. Whereas, others believe that, movies and theatres are very cruisial for both economical and cultural purposes. In my opinion, movies and theatres plays a significant role in our economy and culture despite having fewer spectators.
In the modern era, individuals have so many ways of entertainment. They oftent use netflix for movies, series, dramas and so on by using their smartphones. Digitalisation is a blessing in the field of entertainment, as people can easily get something for their passtime. However, there are a lots of individuals who want to experience theatres and cinemas all over the world. Also, there are a lots of news about houseful shows in the movie theatres nowadays.
People from many aspects enjoy movies in theatres and cinemas. This can leads profit generations for the owner of the theatres. When someone enjoys different cultural movies in the cinamas they know about the cultural diversity of the people. this can be possible in a mass gathering like movie hall, as people of different ages and different cultures gather together to enjoy some kinds of mives in the theatre. Though movie theatres and cinemas lose their potential customer, it contribute to the national economy so far. For instance, when people of different religions or different ages meet together in a theatre they shares their cultural values and norms with each others. So, this can be very significant for cultural richness.
In conclusion,I still believe that, inspite of losing customers theatres and cinemas are really significant for the economical and cultural purposes in the modern era.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a clear opinion that theatres and cinemas remain important, and you mention both online entertainment and the economic and cultural value of physical venues. However, the two views are not discussed with equal clarity: the online side is mainly described as convenient, while the opposing view receives more attention. Several points are asserted rather than explained—for example, “houseful shows” are mentioned without showing how they demonstrate continuing importance, and the cultural-sharing example is repeated without developing its impact. To strengthen the response, explain more directly why online viewing may replace cinema for some people, then support your own position with specific, developed examples of economic benefits and cultural experiences.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction to online entertainment, then to the benefits of cinemas, and finally to a conclusion. This gives the reader a basic route through the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and some links between ideas are unclear. For instance, the shift from “houseful shows” to the economic and cultural benefits is not fully explained, while the final body paragraph combines profit, cultural diversity, and national economy without a clear sequence. Linking words such as “However,” “Though,” and “For instance” are used, but some connections feel mechanical or do not accurately show the relationship between claims. Organise each body paragraph around one main point and use clearer references to avoid repeating the same cultural idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “digitalisation,” “cultural diversity,” “national economy,” and “spectators,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There is some attempt to use less common language, but inaccurate word choice, spelling, and collocation are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “cruisial,” “passtime,” “profit generations,” and “potential customer”; more natural choices would be “crucial,” “pastime,” “generate profits,” and “potential customers.” “Movies and theatres” is also imprecise when discussing venues, since films are not venues. Aim for accurate topic-specific phrases and check spelling and word forms carefully. Reducing repeated use of “individuals,” “people,” and “theatres and cinemas” would also make the vocabulary more flexible.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast clause beginning “Though movie theatres and cinemas lose…” and a reason clause with “as people can easily get…”. However, errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation are frequent enough to affect fluency. Examples include “movies and theatres plays,” “This can leads,” and “it contribute,” where the verb forms do not agree with their subjects. The opening “Whereas, others believe…” is a fragment, and several sentences have comma or capitalisation problems, such as “In conclusion,I” and “this can be possible.” Work on complete sentence construction, subject–verb agreement, and punctuation, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
