Student answer (Band 6.5)
Some people argue that cinemas and theatres are no longer important as online streaming platforms exist now. While some people believe that online platforms have replaced the cinemas, I believe that cinemas and theatres still hold the economic and cultural value to provide an exceptional experience that can't be given through an online platform.
On one side, some people prefer online streaming platforms due to its convenience and cost efficiency, such as Netflix, which provides thousands of shows with no travel or waiting in lines to buy tickets. people get to enjoy entertainment from the comfort of their homes. For people who are busy these platforms are a good alternative of cinemas, and are very budget friendly.
On the other hand, i believe cinemas remain important because of their immersive atmosphere and social value. The experience from the advanced screens and speakers in a dark room is unmatched. They provide a unique sensory that is not possible at home. cinemas and theatres serve as a form of social activity that brings friends and families together to spend time.
In conclusion, while online platforms offer cost efficiency and comfort of home, they remain unmatched to the experience that a cinema or theatre can provide. Cinemas and theatres hold both cultural and economic value over online platforms. As a result, both the platforms will continue to co exist rather than replace each other in the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state a clear opinion: online services are convenient, while cinemas and theatres retain economic and cultural value. The examples of Netflix, avoiding travel and queues, and the immersive screen-and-speaker experience are relevant. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the online-viewing argument is explained mainly through convenience and cost, while the claim that venues have economic and cultural value is asserted rather than supported with concrete examples. The conclusion repeats your position but does not add much development. The response is also 16 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to explain and support your ideas. Develop each view with a specific example, such as employment or the shared experience of a live performance.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression from online convenience to the continuing value of venues is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On one side,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the organisation explicit. This is a sound, logical arrangement. To make cohesion more flexible and less dependent on formulaic transitions, connect ideas within paragraphs using clearer references and cause-and-effect links. For example, the sentence about busy people could explain how convenience affects their choice, then lead into the contrast with a cinema visit. Ensure each paragraph develops its central point before moving on.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “online streaming platforms,” “cost efficiency,” “immersive atmosphere,” and “sensory,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “advanced screens and speakers.” Some word choices and collocations are imprecise or incomplete, however: “a unique sensory” needs a noun such as “experience,” and “alternative of cinemas” is not the natural expression. “Remain unmatched to” is also awkward in this context. These slips do not prevent understanding, but more accurate collocations and a wider range of precise terms would strengthen the response. Aim to use vocabulary that distinguishes the economic, cultural, and social benefits rather than repeating broad claims about value and experience.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in “While some people believe…” and a relative clause in “the experience that a cinema or theatre can provide.” Most sentences communicate their meaning clearly, and errors rarely obstruct understanding. Some grammatical and punctuation slips remain: “due to its convenience” has unclear agreement with the plural “platforms”; “For people who are busy these platforms…” needs a comma after the introductory phrase; and “i” and the sentence-initial “people” and “cinemas” should be capitalised. The final sentence also needs a hyphen in “co-exist” under standard usage. Check agreement, sentence openings, and punctuation carefully, while continuing to use varied sentence structures.
