Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this modern era, social media has become increasingly popular among people. They watch social media for entertainment therefore some individuals believe that theatres are now unuseful because people now use online platforms while others think that they are significant for cultural and economic development. This essay will dicuss both views and also my own perspective that why i believe that cinemas are significantly important.
On the one hand, most of the individuals prefer social media over cinemas because it offers conveniance. Online platforms are very conveniant because people can watch any play or film from anywhere. In addition, if offers accessibilty. Individuals can find plenty of movies and enjoy it. For instance, if someone is not intrested in a play so it is easy to switch from one to another. This particular feature is not available in cinemas.
On the other hand, cinemas and theatres are also important because it leads to ecnomical development. Many individuals are connected to this entertainment platforms. If these platforms are stopped so it will cause ecnomic cisis and financial instability. Furthermore, government should be affected. This is because it generates a huge amount of revenue and percentage of overall revenue is contributed to GDP. The reduction in GDP will create problem for country economy and leads to unemployment. Moreover, cultural play occurs in this cinemas which leads to cultural development. If these entertainment platforms cultural and traditional play are shown which gives information about culture and their traditions.
In conclusion, both views has strong arguments and reasons. Overall, i believe that cinemas and theatres are important because it enhance economy and aware and spread awareness about their culture and tradition.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both sides of the discussion and state your view: online viewing is convenient, while cinemas and theatres contribute economically and culturally. This gives the response a relevant overall direction. However, the two sides are not developed equally or precisely. The online argument is supported with examples of watching from anywhere and switching films, but it focuses mainly on social media rather than online entertainment more broadly. The economic case mentions revenue, GDP and unemployment, yet the links between these outcomes are asserted rather than explained. The cultural point is also difficult to follow. To strengthen the response, explain how venues support jobs and local businesses, and give a specific example of how live performance preserves or shares culture.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for each view, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion. Within paragraphs, however, progression is sometimes weakened by unclear links or abrupt claims. For example, “Furthermore, government should be affected” does not clearly connect to the preceding point about economic development, and the cultural argument shifts quickly from performances to information about traditions. Some linking phrases are also used mechanically. Improve cohesion by making each paragraph follow a clear sequence—main claim, explanation, example—and use pronouns or transitions only when their references are clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “convenience,” “accessibility,” “financial instability,” “revenue,” “GDP,” and “cultural development.” This shows an attempt to discuss both economic and cultural effects. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make the writing less natural; examples include “unuseful,” “conveniant,” “ecnomic cisis,” and “cultural play.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “government should be affected” and “these entertainment platforms,” which can make the intended meaning unclear. Build a more accurate set of topic phrases and check spelling and word forms carefully. Prefer precise expressions such as “support employment” or “preserve cultural traditions” where they fit.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple sentences and longer clauses, using structures such as “because,” “if,” and “which.” This allows you to express reasons and consequences, but control is inconsistent, and complex sentences are often faulty. For example, “if offers accessibility” has an unclear subject, while “If these platforms are stopped so it will cause…” combines an if-clause with an unnecessary “so.” Agreement and sentence construction also need attention in “both views has strong arguments” and “it leads to economic development.” Capitalisation is inconsistent, including “i” in the introduction and conclusion. Practise forming complete conditional sentences, checking subject–verb agreement, and proofreading punctuation and capital letters.
