Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and give a personal position, particularly when you say online platforms are convenient and that cinemas and theatres support employment and culture. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the economic and cultural benefits are asserted rather than explained with a specific example, and the point about online entertainment is clearer than the case for traditional venues. Your opinion is present, but it shifts somewhat between preserving history, creating jobs and presenting talent, without establishing which reason is most important. The conclusion also repeats the contrast in an unclear way. To strengthen the response, explain each main reason with a concrete example and state your position consistently from the introduction through to the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the comparison, and the ideas generally remain grouped by viewpoint. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. For example, the first body paragraph moves from convenience to subscriptions, categories and YouTube’s global reach without clearly connecting each point to the main argument. Some linking is mechanical, and the conclusion does not clearly summarise the discussion or position. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each supporting detail explicitly to its paragraph’s central idea; also check that references such as “this” have an unmistakable meaning.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “employment,” “culture,” “global stage,” “subscription” and “entertainment,” so the reader can identify the subject of the essay. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices, collocations and spelling errors make parts of the response difficult to understand. Examples include “digital apps,” “different categories make easy to find their interest of genre,” and “economically benefit.” There are also repeated references to “important” and “apps,” which restrict precision. Build a more accurate set of phrases for discussing access, cultural representation and economic impact, and check spelling carefully. Prefer natural combinations such as “streaming platforms,” “reflect local culture” and “generate revenue.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast introduced by “whereas” and a reason introduced by “so.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement and articles sometimes make the meaning hard to follow. For example, “people are often watch movies” combines incompatible verb forms, while “theatres and cinemas are play major role” has errors in the verb pattern and article use. The sentence beginning “The reason people become busy” is also not grammatically complete as written. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. Check agreement, articles and verb forms, and punctuate sentence boundaries so that each idea is expressed clearly.
