Student answer (Band 6.0)
People have different opinions about whether theatres and cinemas are not important in the digital era, as all entertainment can be watched online while, other thinks they are still important financially annd culturally. There are some valid arguments and in this essay i am going to explain them with reasons and share my opinion.
On the one hand, the digital age is progressing so fast that everything seems to be achieved online such as entertainment. An argument about the theatres and cinemas are not important anymore because everything can be watched online is a valid one. The main reason for this is that, people don't have to go out, spending money on seat bookings but instead they can be anywhere they want and watch that same thing online. It's cost effective, less struggle to reach the cinema thus, less money spent.
On the other hand, others believes that theatres and cinemas are important financially and culturaly. One of the major advantage of this approach is that, theatres and cinemas provides financial support to many people, either the employees or some big network of bussiness across the globe. For instance, new movies are first released in theatres and cinema which gets benefit by thousands of people booking their seats watching that particular movie. As a result, the business is benefiting the society as well as the country. I find this argument more convincing because, people siting next to eachother, enjoying the movies in the cinema and theatres, helps building a happy and healthy community.
In conclusion, although everything can be watched online i believe that, for the benefit of the society, betterment of community and for worldwide businesses, cinemas and theatres are always important.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and state a clear preference for the continuing importance of theatres and cinemas, especially in the conclusion and in “I find this argument more convincing.” The discussion of online viewing gives relevant reasons—convenience and lower costs—and the opposing view is supported with employment and business benefits. However, some points are less fully developed: the economic case is explained more clearly than the cultural case, while the claim that shared viewing builds a “happy and healthy community” needs a specific explanation or example. The response would be stronger if it explored cultural value directly, such as live performance, shared experiences, or the preservation of artistic traditions, and developed the online-viewing argument with a more precise example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your position. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and the main ideas are generally grouped appropriately. This is a solid foundation, with some features of more flexible organisation. However, linking is occasionally mechanical, and some connections within sentences are unclear—for example, “An argument about the theatres and cinemas are not important anymore because everything can be watched online is a valid one.” The repeated use of “because” and “as a result” also makes the flow somewhat formulaic. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example explicitly to the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “digital age,” “financial support,” “employees,” and “community,” so the main ideas are understandable. There are also attempts to express more specific concepts, such as “cost effective” and “business across the globe.” However, word choice and collocation are often imprecise or repetitive: “everything seems to be achieved online” does not naturally express that entertainment is available online, and “gets benefit by thousands of people” is awkward. Spelling errors such as “culturaly,” “bussiness,” and “annd” also reduce accuracy. Build a more reliable range of topic-specific phrases and check spelling, word forms, and natural combinations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrastive opening and clauses introduced by “because” and “although.” The overall meaning is usually clear, but some grammatical errors occur in sentence construction, agreement, and punctuation. For example, “others believes” should have subject–verb agreement, while “theatres and cinemas provides” also needs a plural verb. The opening sentence is difficult to control because several ideas are joined together, and commas are often placed where a full stop or a clearer clause boundary is needed. There are also errors in forms such as “people siting next to eachother.” Practise building accurate complex sentences, then proofread specifically for agreement and sentence boundaries.
