Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people argue that in the digital age, theatres and cinemas are no longer important because people can watch all the entertainment they want online. I agree with it because there are many latest tenchnologies that give entertainment to people online like mobile phones, TV, LCD, etc. But, some people argue that theatres and cinema are still important. They are also true at some time people still need theatres and cinemas.

On the one hand, people tell now the world is digital so, theatres and cinemas are no longer important because people have many gadgets to watch all entertainment that they want online. I agree with it all the entertainment things are now available online that's why no need of theatres and cinemas. Futhermore most people like watch entertainment at home in private place not in public place. For Example, if people like to watch romantic movie then they easily watch it online on different things like mobile phone, LCD and others.

On the other hands, some people argue theatres and cinemas are still important both ecnomically and culturally. Everyone not like to watch entertainment online they like to watch entertainment on cinema because cinema gives different feels like big screen, public noices and many others. Additionally, when new film release it is not available online so large crowd of people go cinema to see this new film. This is the way to generate large income from cinema and theatres. For Example, in my country people only like to watch stage drama only on theatres because they feel differently if they watch it on theatres.

In conclusion, in digital age people only like to watch entertainment online so theatres and cinemas are no longer important because want every things online that they need. However, theatres and cinema are stilly important at some stage because some people only like to watch entertainment on cinema and theatres because it give completely different entertainment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and state a preference for online entertainment, while also acknowledging that cinemas and theatres retain value. The examples of watching a romantic film at home and attending stage drama help make the discussion relevant. However, the position is not fully consistent: the opening says you agree that venues are no longer important, but the conclusion also says they remain important, without clearly weighing the two views or explaining your final judgement. The economic and cultural claims are introduced, but the economic point is only briefly linked to income from new film releases, and the cultural value of live performance could be explained further. Develop each side with clearer reasons and make your own overall position explicit throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs presenting opposing views, and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its basic structure. However, progression within paragraphs is often repetitive: the first body paragraph restates that entertainment is available online several times, and the conclusion repeats earlier claims rather than drawing them together. Linking phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hands,” and “Additionally” show an attempt to organise ideas, but some are used awkwardly or do not create a clear relationship between points. References such as “they” and “it” can also be unclear. To improve, give each paragraph a distinct central claim, develop it with explanation and an example, and use transitions that accurately show contrast, cause, or result.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “digital age,” “online,” “big screen,” “income,” and “stage drama.” However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “entertainment,” “important,” and “people like.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “tenchnologies,” “Futhermore,” “ecnonomically,” and “public noices,” which can distract the reader. Some combinations are unnatural, including “different feels” and “watch entertainment on different things.” Aim for more precise expressions and check spelling carefully. Using terms such as “streaming services,” “live performance,” and “box-office revenue” would help you express the topic more accurately and avoid repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, the range is limited, and longer constructions often contain frequent errors that make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “I agree with it all the entertainment things are now available online” joins two clauses without a suitable connector, while “Everyone not like to watch entertainment online” has incorrect word order and verb construction. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “it give completely different entertainment.” Practise building accurate complex sentences with clear conjunctions, and check subject–verb agreement, negatives, and articles. More reliable control of these basic patterns would make your ideas easier to understand.
