Student answer (Band 5.5)

Well in todays digital era we know everything is avaliable on mobiles and laptops that's why some people think that in this era , theatres and cinemas are no longer popular . While some people disagree with this statement they think theaters and cinemas are still important both economically . Well i am partialy disagree or agree with both views .

To begin with technology is too advanced nowadays that every single think is avaliable online we can watch movies on our phones and laptops because netflix , prime video and many types of apps are there and people don't bother to go cinemas and theatres . However we can see movies before they reliase on cinemas but we have to pay premium and its affordable the the tickets of cinemas .

While i also agree with second statment technology is not gonna take the spark of movie theatres they have there own grace no matter how much technology is high the people who love to watch movie on big screen love to go there and can pay expensive tickets for it in addition , they can order meals from inside and also they get comfortable seats there . on the other hand theaters and cinemas are important for economic growth as entertainment because income and budget of artists and film depands upon it .

To sum up , both views have own side its depends on person to person intreasts and choice some like to watch movies at home or others want to see movies on biggers screens .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and give a personal position, saying you “partially disagree or agree with both views.” The response includes relevant points about online access, cinema’s large screen and facilities, and the economic contribution of film venues. However, the position is not fully clear, and the discussion is uneven: the online-view paragraph mainly lists streaming services and ticket costs, while the economic and cultural importance of cinemas receives only brief explanation. The claim that artists’ income and film budgets depend on cinemas would benefit from a specific example or explanation. To strengthen the response, state your opinion precisely in the introduction and develop each side with a clear reason and supporting example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a concluding summary. Connectors such as “To begin with,” “However,” and “To sum up” help signal the stages of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and transitions can feel mechanical. For example, “While i also agree with second statment” begins a new point without clearly linking it to the preceding discussion, and the final sentence repeats the contrast between home viewing and cinema rather than drawing together the reasons. Some references, such as “they” in the cinema paragraph, could be clearer. Use topic sentences and link each supporting detail explicitly to the paragraph’s main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “digital era,” “premium,” “big screen,” “comfortable seats,” and “economic growth.” The examples of Netflix and Prime Video also make the discussion concrete. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the reader pause: “take the spark of movie theatres,” “own grace,” and “bigger screens” do not express the intended ideas precisely. Spelling errors such as “avaliable,” “reliase,” and “intreasts” are also noticeable. Build a more accurate range of collocations for entertainment and the arts, and check spelling carefully. For instance, describe cinemas as retaining their “appeal” and refer to “box-office revenue” when discussing their economic role.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause in “because Netflix, Prime Video and many types of apps are there” and a contrast introduced by “While.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Examples include “Well i am partialy disagree or agree,” “the people who love to watch movie … love to go there,” and “its depends on person to person.” There are also problems with articles, plurals, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “the tickets of cinemas” and the long opening sentence joined with a comma. Practise forming clear subject–verb patterns and separating complete ideas into sentences. Proofread for capitalisation, apostrophes, and consistent punctuation as well.
