Student answer (Band 6.0)

A few individuals argue that in the present digital era, theaters and cinemas are no longer important as people tend to watch all the entertainment they want on online. While others believe that cinemas and theater are significant both economically and culturally. Although cinemas are undeniable and give a nostalgic and real experience, in my point of view, I feel steaming online on OTT platforms are convenient.

It is obvious that nothing can replace the cinematic experience. Watching a movie with friends and family with no pauses in between except the interval, that is more fun and relaxing. For example, the sound effects and visuals provided by big screens in a theater to watch avengers or spiderman cannot be achieved in a small small screens. It not only gives the viewer a wonderful experience but also boosts the economy by providing millions to the entertainment industry, which benefits the production team and encourages to make more such movies.

Coming to the digital age, like everything is been digitalized cinemas are also now available online and can be accessed anytime and anywhere which is quite convenient to the people who have busy schedule, or pretty lazy to get out of their homes. It also has economic advantages as the OTT platforms like prime video pay enormous amounts to the production team to cast their movie. It lets people to enjoy their favorite movies or shows in their comfortable space and spare time without any pressure. It not only lets the user to pause and continue, replay, skip the part they do not like which is quite flexible, but also allows them to change audio languages and also add subtitles.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and give a preference for online streaming, so the response is relevant to the task. The cinema case includes a concrete example—large-screen visuals and sound for films such as Avengers—and links cinemas to employment and the entertainment economy. You also explain online convenience, flexible viewing, and language options. However, the position is not fully consistent: the introduction says cinemas are “undeniable” before concluding that streaming is convenient, and the final paragraph does not clearly restate your overall judgement. The cultural importance of theatres is mentioned only through nostalgia and the shared experience, while the economic comparison is asserted rather than supported. Develop these points and make your opinion explicit throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph supporting cinemas, and a paragraph about online platforms. This makes the two views easy to identify, and examples generally follow the claims they illustrate. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes loose. The opening sentence of the final body paragraph, “Coming to the digital age, like everything is been digitalized,” is awkward and does not establish a precise link to the preceding argument. Some connections are also mechanical, particularly the repeated “It not only… but also…” pattern. The essay ends without a concluding paragraph, so the discussion and your position are not brought together. Use clearer transitions between claims and add a concise conclusion that synthesises both views.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “cinematic experience,” “sound effects,” “production team,” “OTT platforms,” and “subtitles.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or informal, which limits precision: “watch … on online,” “small small screens,” “pretty lazy,” and “pay enormous amounts … to cast their movie” do not express the intended ideas naturally. There is also a spelling error in “steaming” for “streaming,” and “theater” and “cinemas” are used inconsistently. Aim for more precise academic phrasing and check collocations and spelling; this would make the vocabulary more flexible and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including a concessive opening with “Although” and a sentence using “which” to add information. Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “people tend to watch … on online” has an incorrect preposition, while “cinemas and theater are significant” has a number-agreement problem. The construction “like everything is been digitalized” is faulty, and “people who have busy schedule” is missing an article. The long sentence beginning “It not only lets the user…” also has an unclear structure and inconsistent singular/plural reference. Practise accurate articles, agreement, verb forms, and parallel sentence structures, while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
