Student answer (Band 6.5)
Though some people believe that theatres and cinemas are no longer significant in this modern era of online, others argue that they still have substantial impact on economic and cultural development. Most of the entertainment contents are available via online platform and the subscription cost is very low. By contrast, buying cinema-ticket is expensive, but it helps the film production company to earn their revenue and the audience to enjoy the cinema hall experience. Therefore, in my opinion, theatres and cinemas are still crucial for the development of both economy and culture.
Due to the easy availability on the internet, people tend to watch movies and series on their computer or smart television at home. They believe that going to the cinemas or theatres is costly because of the overprice of the ticket and the commutation expenses. For instance, if someone has a low budget, he would always choose to enjoy the content via online rather than going to theatres, which he cannot afford. But I don't think that online content can overweigh the importance of cinemas and theatres.
On the other hand, the film-maker can make their expected revenue by selling the cinema-tickets. Moreover, most of the individuals tend to watch films in the theatres with their family and friends because it is a part of the culture. People enjoy the crowd and the comments they make in the hall while watching the shows. So, it is of paramount importance that individuals should enjoy the cinemas in the hall to ensure the film industry is alive and to watch the content more enjoyably. That's why I agree with the importance of cinemas and theatres, though online media is easily accessable.
In conlusion, although digital version of the content is easily available and it is cheaper than the cinemas, it is not quite enjoyable and entertaining as hall. For the development of the film industry and to increase the invaluable experience of the audience, the cinemas and theatres should still be made available.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you argue that cinemas and theatres remain important despite the convenience of online entertainment. You address both views, explaining that online viewing is cheaper and more accessible, while cinema tickets support film-makers and shared viewing has cultural value. These points are relevant and your examples, such as a person on a low budget choosing online content, help illustrate the opposing view. However, the economic and cultural arguments are not developed equally: the claim that ticket sales sustain the film industry needs more explanation, and the cultural point relies mainly on enjoying the crowd. To strengthen the response, extend these ideas with specific consequences or examples and clarify how theatres contribute beyond audience enjoyment.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction with your position, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your opinion. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” make the main shifts easy to follow. The progression is generally logical, but some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Therefore” in the introduction follows a contrast between ticket costs and revenue without fully showing how that contrast leads to your conclusion. The final paragraph also repeats ideas from the introduction rather than adding a concise synthesis. Use more precise referencing and vary the way you connect cause, contrast, and result so that relationships between claims are explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for the topic, including terms such as “subscription cost,” “film production company,” “revenue,” and “cultural development.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “of paramount importance” and “invaluable experience.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “overprice of the ticket,” “commutation expenses,” “overweigh the importance,” and “available via online.” Spelling errors such as “accessable” and “conlusion” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, but they limit precision. Aim for natural combinations such as “high ticket prices,” “travel costs,” and “outweigh the importance,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses in “Though some people believe…” and the conditional example beginning “if someone has a low budget.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “theatres and cinemas are no longer significant in this modern era of online” has an incomplete construction, and “the film-maker can make their expected revenue” has an agreement and pronoun-reference problem. In “it is not quite enjoyable and entertaining as hall,” the comparison structure and article use are also faulty. Review sentence completeness, subject–verb and pronoun agreement, and comparative patterns. More consistently accurate complex sentences would make the argument smoother and more controlled.
