Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued by some people that theaters and cinemas are no longer significant as individuals can watch all entertainment they want online. Meanwhile, others argue that cinema and theater are still crucial both economically and culturally. However, I believe that cinemas and theaters are still significant as they provide entertainment and help people relax.

On the one hand, supporters of the idea theaters and cinemas are not important now beacuse watching movies from home is more convinient. In addition, the technology is highly advanced now and everybody has internet access. As in China, theaters and cinemas are less then before because it is one of the advance city with modern facilities. Individiuals have installed projectors in their accomodations, so they prefer to watch movie from their home without spending money. Thus, the supporters of this view support their findings back their analysis with valid arguments.

While on the other hand, the advocate of theaters and cinimas are essentials as they are benificial for economy and for cultural diversity. As cinimas and theaters risen the economy of the country because huge part of the population prefer to watch movie and shows in cinemas to make them happy and relax which directly impact positively on economy. However, it is significant for cultural diversity as it make individuals to stay connected with culture. For instance, according to a report cultural diversity connects directly with influence and people get influenced by TV Shows, Movies and Dramas which directly impact on economy to risen it. Hence, this view also seems to acrry a lot weightage.

However, in my opinion cinimas and theaters are important because they entertains humans and helps everyone to relax. As if somebody is tired with schedual then they can visit to unwind and relaxation.

To sum up, even though in digital age some people argued that theaters and cinemas are not mandatory, but I believe that they are still important because they entertained humans to make them happy and relax.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You present a clear opinion that cinemas and theatres remain important, and you discuss both the online-viewing argument and the economic and cultural case for venues. However, the response only partially develops the task: the first view is supported mainly by convenience, internet access and a brief reference to China, while the second relies on broad claims about economic impact and cultural diversity. The example about a report is vague and does not show what the report found, and the final personal reason—that venues help people relax—largely repeats the introduction rather than extending your argument. Develop each view with a specific, explained example and make the cultural and economic benefits more precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion and a conclusion. This makes the main direction easy to follow. However, some links are mechanical or confusing. For example, “On the one hand” is followed by “While on the other hand” in the next paragraph, and “However” introduces your opinion even though it does not clearly contrast with the preceding point. The sentence “Thus, the supporters of this view support their findings back their analysis” interrupts the argument and does not clearly connect to the example before it. Use linking phrases only when their logical relationship is clear, and make each paragraph progress from a main idea to explanation and evidence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “digital age,” “cultural diversity,” “economy,” and “relaxation,” so the reader can understand the subject and your position. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make the expression awkward: “cinimas,” “benificial,” “accomodations,” and “a lot weightage” are examples. Phrases such as “risen the economy” and “make them happy and relax” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Repetition of “important,” “significant,” and “relax” also limits flexibility. Build a more accurate range of collocations for discussing employment, revenue, shared cultural experiences and leisure, and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple statements and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “as,” and “which.” However, complex sentences are often not controlled accurately, and errors occur frequently enough to make some passages difficult to follow. For example, “theaters and cinemas are not important now beacuse watching movies from home is more convinient” lacks a clear grammatical link after “idea,” while “it make individuals to stay connected” has problems with agreement and verb pattern. In “they entertains humans and helps everyone,” the plural subject does not agree with the verbs. Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check agreement, articles, and punctuation when joining clauses.
