Student answer (Band 5.5)
The debate surrounded around the watching cinemas has led to contrasting views. while, some people argue in this digital age theatres and cinemas are not required as every kind of entertainment can be found online, others argue that theatres and cinemas still play vital role economically and culturally. In this I discuss both the perspectives and explain what I believe in.
Few people claim that the theatres and cinemas are no longer required as online application can suffice all kinds of the entertainment in finger touch. The reason behind this is as the technology got advanced recently there have been several online streaming services available in market, which provide all kind of web-series and movies in one application. As a result, people can watch movies from any where at there convenience. Furthermore, it reduces the travel cost and avoids standing in the queue for buying tickets to movie.
On other hand, people believe that theatres and cinemas still important both economically and culturally.
Main reason is people are sentimentally connected to watch movie or theatres in local venue among huge group of people. meanwhile, this provides salary to the actors and other workers depended on it. The financial engagement between audience and theatres or movies support this sector to grow economically, despite loosing the cultural values.
In conclusion, the issue of whether watching theatres and movies in digital age is important has strong arguments on both sides. I believe in having balanced approach, Although online services provide the entertainment at finger touch, it is important to support the local theatre act's and watching movies as it upholds the cultural value, while supporting actors and workers by watching movies in venues and also cheering them up. If the common goal is about encouraging the good entertainment contents and meaningful movies this approach will contribute to that objective.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and give a personal position: online services are convenient, while venues support cultural value and workers. The examples of avoiding travel and ticket queues, and of employment for actors and other workers, are relevant to the question. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The economic point is asserted rather than explained in detail, and the phrase “despite loosing the cultural values” makes the relationship between economic benefits and culture unclear. Your conclusion favours a balanced approach, but the position could be stated more directly and consistently, with a clearer explanation of why physical venues remain important alongside online entertainment. Develop each main reason with a specific example or consequence.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and some linking expressions are inaccurate or mechanical. For example, “The reason behind this is as” does not clearly introduce the explanation, while “despite loosing the cultural values” creates a confusing connection between ideas. The conclusion also combines several points in a long sentence, making the final argument difficult to follow. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each supporting detail explicitly to the paragraph’s main claim. Check that pronouns and references such as “this” have an unmistakable antecedent.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “online streaming services,” “financial engagement,” “cultural value,” and “convenience,” which allows you to discuss both sides of the issue. However, the range is limited by repeated general terms such as “important,” “entertainment,” and “people,” and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate. Phrases such as “in finger touch,” “online application,” and “watching theatres” do not express the intended meanings naturally; “sentimentally connected” is also an awkward choice in context. These errors sometimes make the reader pause, although the main ideas remain understandable. Build a more precise range for discussing access, audience experience, employment, and cultural contribution, and learn common word partnerships as complete phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast in the introduction and a conditional structure in the conclusion. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence boundaries, articles, agreement, and verb forms sometimes make the meaning harder to follow. For example, “while” begins a sentence after a full stop, “theatres and cinemas still play vital role” is missing an article, and “people are sentimentally connected to watch” uses an incorrect grammatical pattern. The final sentence beginning “If the common goal…” is also difficult to manage because several ideas are joined together. Practise building accurate clauses first, then combine them with clear connectors; proofread for capitalisation, articles, and subject–verb agreement.
