Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address both perspectives: online viewing is presented as convenient and cheaper, while cinemas are linked to employment, tax revenue and cultural values. However, the response only partially fulfils the task. The economic case receives some explanation, but the cultural point is merely asserted, and the online-viewing argument relies on broad claims rather than developed support. Most importantly, you do not clearly state your own opinion, despite being asked to give it. The response also contains 203 words, below the required 250, and ends abruptly after “In addition,” without completing the final point. Develop each view with a specific example, state your position explicitly, and finish with a conclusion that answers the question.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: the opening introduces the two views, and the following paragraphs broadly separate online entertainment from the importance of cinemas. Linking expressions such as “For instance,” “On the other hand,” and “In addition” show an effort to connect ideas. However, progression is not consistently clear. The first paragraph combines several claims in a long sentence, and the second paragraph shifts between employment, GDP, tax and culture without explaining their relationships. Some connectors are used mechanically or inaccurately, while the unfinished “In addition,” leaves the response without a complete ending. Use one clear main idea per paragraph, connect examples directly to that idea, and add a concluding paragraph.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “premium content,” “job opportunities,” “GDP,” and “traditional values,” which helps communicate the main subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, sometimes making the meaning harder to follow. Examples include “convinient sources,” “open source” for online entertainment, “long ques,” and “job availibilities.” “Fabricated stories entertainment” and “boost of countries economy” are also unclear or unnatural. Spelling errors such as “availiable,” “goverment,” and “tollowood” are noticeable. Aim for precise, natural phrases and check spelling; for example, describe online content as “readily accessible” and cinema queues as “long waiting lines.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt complex sentences using clauses and linking words, for example, “While critics believe…” and “because it is cheaper…”. However, the range is limited, and complex constructions are often faulty. The opening has an incomplete contrast clause beginning “While critics believe,” and agreement errors appear in “multiplex and movie hall is” and “people avoids.” Other problems include “the wide range … are available,” missing or incorrect articles, and the sentence fragment “due to the numerous jobs availibilities in cinemas and theatres, are essential.” Punctuation also makes some long sentences difficult to follow. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, check singular/plural agreement, and divide long sentences into shorter units.
