Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the digital age, films, dramas and other forms of entertainments are available from the comforts of your homes. Some people believe that traditional venues are no longer productive, while some argue that they play economical and structural role. From my perspective, although all kind of entertainment are easily accessible, these traditional places are also valuable.

On the one hand, digital platforms have made the entertainment sources so accessibe, people find theaters and cinemas wastage of money and time. Individuals no longer need to purchase expensive tickets and wait for days and months to watch their favourite show or movie. This really helpfull for professionals who have not enough time to visit these places and those who are saving money. For example, platforms like YouTube and Netflix provide a wide range of content from all over the world, that people can watch them from their homes.

On the other hand, these traditional places are also very beneficial like they represent the culture of any country. The great experience of watching your favourite show on big screen with high quality sound cannot be achieved in homes. Moreover, the live performance of stage actors on any historical and social event is also very fascinating, public emotionally connect with them. Along with that, these venues also offer jobs to a lot of actors, directors, technicians and other staff. Thus removing poverty and supporting a country economically.

In conclusion, while these digital sources foster freedom, flexibility and greater convenience to their consumers. Yet, the advantages of traditional places are still very much crucial for preserving our culture and helping artists economical.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and give a clear overall position: online access is convenient, but traditional venues remain valuable. The discussion includes relevant reasons, such as saving time and money, the shared big-screen experience, cultural representation, and employment for arts workers. These points meet the task well, and the examples of YouTube and Netflix help illustrate the online view. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that venues help “removing poverty” is broad and the link between employment and reducing poverty is not developed. The cultural value of live performance is also mentioned but could be supported with a specific example. More balanced explanation and evidence would make the response more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. Within the paragraphs, ideas generally move from convenience to examples, and then from cultural experience to employment. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. The sentence beginning “Along with that” leads into “Thus removing poverty,” which reads as a fragment and leaves the relationship between the ideas unclear. The conclusion’s “while … Yet” construction also creates an awkward link. Use cohesive phrases more selectively and ensure each sentence connects grammatically and logically to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “digital platforms,” “traditional venues,” “live performance,” and “preserving our culture.” These choices make the subject clear, and phrases such as “freedom, flexibility and greater convenience” show an effort to express related ideas with variety. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “from the comforts of your homes,” “economical and structural role,” and “helping artists economical.” There are also spelling errors such as “accessibe” and “helpfull.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and control. Aim to learn common word partnerships for this topic and check spelling and word forms during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a concession in “although all kind of entertainment are easily accessible” and a relative clause in the example about online platforms. The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “all kind … are” has a number-agreement problem, and “This really helpfull” lacks a correctly formed verb. The sentence “For example, platforms …, that people can watch them” has an unclear relative-clause structure, while “Thus removing poverty” is not a complete sentence. The conclusion also joins “while” and “Yet” awkwardly. Practise agreement, complete sentence construction, and clause linking; then proofread for punctuation and sentence boundaries.
