Student answer (Band 6.5)
With the development of digital technology, people can enjoy films and other forms of enterntainment at home. While some believe that, this has reduce the importantance of theatres and cinemas, others argue that these venues continue to play a significant economic and cultural role. In my opinion, although online platforms offer convenience, traditional entertainment venues remain important role to society.
Supporters of this view argue that watching films or entertainment at home give then convenience to watch whenever they want and will not require the stand in queue for tickets and waiting for fix time slot for movie. As in modern society the jobs has become demanding and have busy schedule due to which have limited leisure time and watching at home provide flexibility to people to enjoy entainment in their limited time and they even do not require to travel. With digital age money is saved instead of buying movie or show tickets, so it has become affortable. For example, People who work long hours can watch a film on a streaming platform after dinner instead of travelling to a cinema.
Conversely, others contend that people enjoy films, drams and show together. Live performance creates atmosphere which we won't be able to create at home. Moreover watching films together helps to to increase social interation. Another point to add to this is treatres and cinemas helps to create jobs for actors, directors, technicians and cinema staff. It generate income from selling ticket, refreshments and provide luxuary setting space which helps in economic contribution to society. For example, In India, people often visit cinemas with family and friends to watch major film releases, making the experience a social occasion as well as a form of entertainment.
In conclusion, online entertainment has become increasingly popular because it is convenient, flexible and often affordable. Nevertheless, theatres and cinemas continue to provide unique social and cultural experiences while supporting employment and economic activity. I therefore believe that digital platforms may change the entertainment industry, but they will not make traditional venues entirely unnecessary.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response addresses both sides of the discussion and maintains a clear position: online platforms are convenient, but traditional venues remain important. The supporting points are relevant and extended with examples, including workers watching films after dinner and Indian families attending major releases. The economic and cultural roles of venues are also identified through employment, ticket and refreshment sales, and shared experiences. This meets the task well. To strengthen the development further, explain more specifically how these examples demonstrate wider cultural or economic effects, rather than relying on broad claims such as venues “provide economic contribution to society.” The conclusion effectively restates the balanced view, though the argument could make the comparison between online entertainment and live or cinema experiences more explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting the advantages of home viewing, a contrasting paragraph on venues, and a conclusion. The progression is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Conversely,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help distinguish the main stages of the argument. Examples are generally placed alongside the points they support. Some linking is less controlled within sentences, however, and several ideas are joined in long sequences, particularly in the paragraph about convenience. The phrase “Another point to add to this” is also a somewhat mechanical transition. For stronger cohesion, divide complex explanations into clearer units and use referencing or transitions that show the precise relationship between each claim and its supporting detail.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for discussing the topic, with useful expressions such as “streaming platform,” “social occasion,” “economic activity,” and “cultural experiences.” The writer also uses relevant topic vocabulary for employment and entertainment. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices occur in several places, including “enterntainment,” “affortable,” and “interation.” Some collocations are awkward, for example “luxuary setting space” and “watch films or entertainment.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding the main ideas, but they limit precision and naturalness. Build accuracy by checking spelling carefully and learning common word partnerships, such as “watch films,” “attend a live performance,” and “make an economic contribution.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response attempts a mix of simple and complex structures, including a concessive opening (“While some believe…”) and a contrast introduced by “although.” Meaning is generally recoverable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “watching films… give them convenience” and “the jobs has become demanding,” as well as faulty verb forms in “this has reduce” and “It generate income.” There are also problems with sentence construction, such as “due to which have limited leisure time,” and with articles or infinitives in “will not require the stand in queue.” These errors make some sentences less controlled, even though the overall message remains clear. Practise checking each clause for a clear subject and correctly formed verb, and use shorter sentences when several ideas are being explained.
