Student answer (Band 5.0)
Many people argue that in the digital age, theatres and cinemas are no longer essentials as individuals can watch all the entertainment they need online. Others say thats theatres and cinemas are still significant both economically and culturally. In my opinion although online entertainment are easiy or convient to watch and traditions and economical are still significant on society .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You attempt to discuss both views and give an opinion: the first body paragraph mentions online platforms, while the second describes going to a cinema, and the conclusion favours theatres. However, the position in the introduction is difficult to understand, and the economic and cultural importance named in the prompt is not meaningfully explained. Most points are brief or unclear—for example, the claim that cinemas develop communication skills needs explanation, and the economic argument is reduced to paying for websites. The response contains 196 words, so it is 54 words below the required minimum; this limits the space available to develop relevant reasons and examples. Address each part directly and support your points with specific explanations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted by “on the one hand” and “on the other hands,” and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the two sides of the discussion. However, progression within the paragraphs is weak: the first moves from convenience to payment, social viewing and eye problems without clearly linking these points, while the second lists cinema experiences without developing a central argument. Some linking phrases are inaccurate or awkward, and the conclusion is too brief to bring the discussion together. Organise each paragraph around one main idea, then explain it and connect it to the task. Use clear references and transitions rather than relying mainly on formulaic signposts.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “digital age,” “entertainment,” “economically,” “culturally,” and “audience.” However, the range is basic and several word choices or spellings make the meaning less clear, such as “make ours days,” “new new movies,” and “threaters.” There is also repetition of “entertainment” and “watch,” and some phrases do not collocate naturally, including “show them love” and “see the entertainment.” Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and check spelling and word forms. For example, you could describe online viewing as convenient, cinemas as cultural venues, and ticket sales or employment as economic benefits.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt a few longer structures, including the opening contrast beginning “although” and the conditional “if we were busy,” but most sentences are simple, and errors occur frequently enough to make some ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “online entertainment are,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “we can't enjoying,” which uses the wrong verb form after “can’t.” The opening sentence also lacks clear punctuation around its contrast, and the final sentence is not formed as a complete, clear conclusion. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, modal verb patterns, articles and sentence boundaries. Build longer sentences by joining a main claim to a clear reason, while checking that each clause is grammatically complete.
