Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, a number of individuals believe that watching movies, and dramas at theatres and cinema hall in person are not necessary because people can watch all kinds of cinema in online, whereas others disagree and think that movie theatres and cinema hall are crucial part for economic growth and cultural developments. I would agree with the latter viewpoint.

To begin with, wasting time is the main reason why citizens think that theatres and cinemas are should be vanished. At the end of the 20th century, the technological and industrial revolution had taken place all over the world, as a result unemployment problems had been solved. People are busy now with their work. Moreover, digital devices, such as laptops, and mobilephones provide an open access to people for watching movies and dramas. As a result, citizens are no need to go to cinema hall to watch movies in person. At the same time, it will save time and money.

On the other hand, some argue that theatres and cinema hall are crucial part for economic growth and culture because it provides employment opportunities for several employees and cultural developmenta.Nowadays, cinema hall and theatres create opportunities for job. As a result, people are able to earn money by doing job at movies hall. A research conducted by Indian film industries showed that more than 2 millions employees are now doing job at several theatres hall in the several province of India. In addition, 5% of the GDP of the India depends on film industries. I firmly support this idea because of the employment opportunies.

In conclusion, although going to watch movies at cinema hall and theatres waste peoples time, I strongly believe that cinema plays an important role for creating employment opportunies and economic growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You discuss both views and state your position clearly in the introduction (“I would agree with the latter viewpoint”) and conclusion. The economic case is supported with examples about employment and film-industry contributions to GDP, which makes your support for cinemas relevant to the question. However, the first view is framed mainly as saving time and money, rather than explaining more fully how online entertainment can replace the cultural or social functions of venues. Some supporting claims are also unclear or insufficiently explained, such as the link between the industrial revolution and unemployment being solved. Develop each side with a more direct explanation and a specific, credible example to make the response more balanced and convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. The contrast between “To begin with” and “On the other hand” helps readers follow the discussion, and the final paragraph restates your position. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the stronger progression expected at the next level. However, connections within paragraphs can feel mechanical because “As a result” is repeated, and some references are unclear—for example, “it provides employment opportunities” does not clearly identify whether “it” means theatres, cinemas, or the film industry. Use a wider range of linking methods and make references explicit so the argument flows more naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “digital devices,” “employment opportunities,” “economic growth,” and “GDP,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “I firmly support this idea.” However, the range is limited by repeated wording such as “cinema hall,” “movies,” and “job,” while several inaccurate word choices or forms reduce precision: “open access” does not fit the intended meaning, and “cultural developmenta” appears to be a spelling or typing error. Some phrases, including “doing job” and “crucial part for,” are not natural collocations. Build a broader set of accurate expressions for venues, online access, and cultural value, and check word forms and spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a contrast clause beginning “although” and a cause-and-effect sentence with “as a result.” Most of the argument remains understandable, and the paragraph structure gives you opportunities to vary sentence forms. Some grammatical errors nevertheless recur. For example, “theatres and cinemas are should be vanished” combines incompatible verb forms, while “people are no need to go” has an incorrect clause structure. There are also agreement and article problems in “cinema hall and theatres are crucial part” and “it provides.” Work on modal and passive constructions, subject–verb agreement, and articles; then proofread each sentence to ensure its subject and verb match and its structure is complete.
