Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some individuals believe that in the digital age, Theatres and cinemas are no longer crucial as people can watch all the entertainment they want online. While others argue that theatres and cineams are still important both economically and culturally. I will discuss both views. I believe that both views are reasonable.

On the one hand, there are various reasons why individuals consider that theatres and cinemas are no longer important because they can watch etertainment on online. Firstly, in digital age, everyone has mobile phones. As a result, peole can connect with online, and whatever they want they can watch without paying any charges. Secondly, nowadays people are too busy. They do not have enough time go to Theatres and cinemas. When they want to take entertainment by watching cinemas or songs after their work done, they can go online and watch. Because of not having sufficient time to them and paying any bill of tickets to access for etertainmet online, they think that theatres and cinemas are no longer necessary.

On the other hand, we cannot deny those who believe that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally. This is because when people visit theates and cinemas, they will pay a ticket price to access. these tickets price helps a country to boost economy. Besides, in theatres and cinemas are played a lot of cultures songs and musics. Those songs and musics remember individuals the value of cultures to follow. But, if the public stop visiting theatres and cinemas, they will not listen such as song and musics. Cosequently, they will forget the value of their cultures.

In conclusion, although nowadays people can watch entertainment they want online, they should visit theatres and cinemas because it is still important both economically and culturally.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both views and give a personal position, so the response addresses the main parts of the task. The first body paragraph explains convenience, free online access and lack of time; the second links ticket sales to the economy and cultural content to preserving traditions. However, the position is not fully clear: “both views are reasonable” is balanced, while the conclusion says people “should visit” cinemas, without explaining how this follows from the earlier points. Several claims also need development—for example, explain how cinema revenue benefits the wider economy, and give a specific example of cultural value. The ideas are relevant but remain general and are not consistently supported with detail or examples. (32 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.)

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the contrast, and the main ideas are generally grouped in the appropriate paragraphs. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes repetitive: the first paragraph repeats that people can watch online and lack time, while the second moves from ticket prices to cultural songs without a clear explanation of the connection. Some linking is mechanical, particularly the repeated “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Besides.” The reference in “these tickets price” is also unclear. Use fewer formulaic transitions and connect each supporting point explicitly to the paragraph’s main claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “digital age,” “economically and culturally,” “ticket price,” and “value of cultures.” However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “theatres and cinemas,” “online,” and “songs and musics.” There are noticeable spelling errors such as “cineams,” “etertainment,” “peole,” and “Cosequently,” which reduce accuracy and can interrupt reading. Some combinations are also unnatural, including “connect with online,” “take entertainment,” and “boost economy.” Aim for more precise, natural expressions and check spelling carefully; for example, “access entertainment online” is clearer than “take entertainment by watching.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response includes some attempts at complex sentences, such as “While others argue…” and “Because of not having sufficient time…,” but these structures are often incomplete or awkward. The opening “While others argue…” is a fragment, and “They do not have enough time go to” is missing “to” before the infinitive. Other errors include “in digital age,” “these tickets price helps,” and “if the public stop,” involving articles, agreement and sentence construction. Most sentences rely on simple patterns, so the range is limited, and errors recur throughout the response. Practise building complete sentences with accurate clauses, and check articles, verb agreement and infinitive forms before submitting.
