Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the question and state a clear view: theatres and cinemas remain “economically and culturally imperative.” The cultural case is supported with examples such as *Waiting for Godot* and university students studying *Othello*, while the economic paragraph mentions ticket sales and visitors. You also acknowledge the opposing view that online and social-media viewing is convenient and free. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the online-viewing argument is brief, and the claim that theatres are “the only source” of cultural representation is too absolute and not explained. Some examples also need clearer links to the question. Develop the counterargument and explain more precisely how live venues contribute economically and culturally.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, paragraphs on cultural and economic benefits, a contrasting paragraph about online viewing, and a conclusion. Connectors such as “Moreover,” “In addition,” and “Conversely” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes uneven. The first body paragraph moves from theatre history to a play and then to literature teaching without consistently explaining the connection to the central claim. Some linking phrases are mechanical or awkward, and references such as “they” can be unclear because both cinemas and theatres, and sometimes dramas, are mentioned nearby. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main point, then organise examples and explanations around it; make references explicit and use transitions more naturally.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “revenue,” “traditions,” “cultural transformation,” and “source of attraction.” These choices show an effort to discuss cultural and economic effects rather than relying only on basic terms. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause, for example “threatres,” “histroy,” “spraed,” and “sicial media.” Some collocations are also unnatural, such as “share life long history,” “buy ticket, a source to generate revenue,” and “lost their values.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully. Reusing precise topic vocabulary—such as “live performance,” “cultural heritage,” and “box-office income”—would make the argument clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use both simple statements and attempts at longer, complex sentences, including “although … they are still the source…” and clauses introduced by “whenever” and “who.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main ideas are generally understandable. However, some sentence patterns are faulty or incomplete. For example, “To being with” does not form a correct introductory phrase, and “As, in many english countries…” is an awkward fragment-like construction. There are also errors in articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “people … are now watching them” after a singular “people” reference and the run-on punctuation around “university level,it helps.” Practise building complete sentences and checking articles, verb forms, agreement, and punctuation, especially in longer sentences.
