Student answer (Band 5.0)

Alot of people think that in this modern era, theatres and cinemas are not much important for people because they can watch all the entertainment they want online. But some people debate that theatres and cinemas are still essential for both economic and cultural.

In this modern technology era, many peopl prefer to watch online. It is good for them who are so busy and don't have enough free time for entertain in cinemas or theatres. They can easily access any movie or some entarinment show online in just one click. It also completely free and access anytime from anywhere around the world. You don't need to go on a specific place and also on a particular time. The online entertainment is also good for them who want to spend time alone or not much feel comfortable in socializing.

On the other side, some people argue that theatres and cinemas are important both economically and culturally. Its a good approach to promote cinemas and theatres. Its good when you are free and enough time to watch movie or show physically in cinemas then definetely go to cinemas. You just don't watch a movie in cinemas or theatres, you can enjoy the environment while watching it. It can provide you a good relaxing and chilling environment with your friends or family. It provide you a place where you enjoy with your family or friends and spent a quality of time with them.

In my opinion, i would suggest that if you have enough free time to go to cinemas, then definetely visit it. It provides you a environment where you enjoy and also a spent a memorable time. But if you are not much free and not enough time, then watch online from anywhere.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views and give a personal preference: online entertainment is convenient for busy people, while cinemas offer a shared experience with friends or family. These are relevant points, and the response meets the task’s length requirement; the eight words copied from the prompt are excluded from the count. However, the discussion only partially fulfils the task because the economic and cultural importance named in the question is not really explained. The cinema paragraph focuses mainly on relaxation and spending time together, rather than, for example, employment, local businesses, or the value of live performance and shared cultural experiences. Your opinion is present, but it is conditional and not developed beyond recommending cinemas when people have free time. Explain and support these central ideas more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph about online viewing, a paragraph about cinemas, and a concluding opinion. Transitions such as “On the other side” and “In my opinion” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited, and several points repeat rather than build on one another. For instance, the cinema paragraph repeats that people can enjoy time with friends or family, while the online paragraph lists convenience benefits without developing them into a broader comparison. Some linking is also mechanical, with repeated sentence openings such as “It is” and “It can.” Group related points, use clearer references, and connect each example to the main argument to make the progression more coherent.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “online entertainment,” “cinemas,” “theatres,” and “environment.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems make the writing less natural. Examples include “not much important,” “free for entertain,” “a particular time,” and “a quality of time”; these expressions do not convey the intended meaning idiomatically. There are also spelling errors such as “peopl,” “entarinment,” and “definetely.” Repetition of “good,” “free,” and “enjoy” further restricts precision. Build a more varied set of expressions for convenience, cultural value, and economic impact, and check spelling and common word partnerships before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You communicate your main points using mostly simple sentences and make some attempts to combine ideas, for example, “They can easily access any movie … online in just one click.” However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and frequent errors in articles, agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “It also completely free,” “It provide you a place,” and “a spent a memorable time.” The opening also uses an incomplete comparison structure: “not much important for people because…” would need a more accurate construction. Practise forming accurate complex sentences with “because,” “while,” and “although,” and check subject–verb agreement and articles in each sentence.
