Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You mention both perspectives: online entertainment is described as affordable and convenient, while cinemas are presented as places to enjoy films with friends and maintain social connections. However, the discussion only partly answers the prompt. The economic and cultural importance of theatres and cinemas is not explained, and the benefits of online viewing are not developed beyond convenience and people being busy or preferring to stay home. Your own position is also difficult to identify: the conclusion says cinemas help people connect, but also repeats that people watch online and become less social. To strengthen the response, explain each view with a specific reason or example, address the economic and cultural points directly, and state a consistent opinion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, supporting paragraphs and a conclusion, and phrases such as “To begin with” and “Overall” signal stages in the discussion. However, ideas are not arranged coherently throughout. The second body paragraph shifts between social effects, the cinema experience, booking tickets and the availability of theatres without clear links, while the first body paragraph ends with an unrelated comment about laziness. Some references are also unclear, such as “these” and “it” in the opening and “there” in the cinema discussion. Use one paragraph for each viewpoint, develop a clear central idea in each, and connect examples directly to that idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary, including “affordable,” “accessible,” “big screen” and “socially active,” so the reader can recognise the topic and several key ideas. However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations make meaning awkward or unclear, such as “few groups thinks,” “internet take place over many thing,” and “watch their favourite shows.” Spelling and informal forms, including “wit,” “bg” and “socialy,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and check word forms and spelling. For example, you could describe online viewing as “convenient” and cinemas as “cultural venues,” then use these terms accurately in developed explanations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a contrast with “although” and a reason introduced by “because.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in agreement, articles, plurals and sentence boundaries can make the reader work to understand the point. Examples include “few groups thinks,” “internet take place,” and the run-on sentence beginning “To begin with, internet take place…” Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly at the starts of sentences and around full stops. Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then combine related ideas with accurate conjunctions. Check subject–verb agreement and use full stops to separate distinct points.
