Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify the two broad positions in the prompt and mention entertainment and economic importance, so the response is relevant to the topic. However, the discussion is very brief and does not adequately explain either view or give a clear, developed personal opinion. The point that watching films at home does not change anything is unclear, and the claim that cinemas make a country economically strong needs explanation or an example. The cultural importance of theatres and cinemas is not really addressed. The response also does not meet the 250-word minimum: it contains 123 words, with 35 words copied from the prompt excluded from the count. Develop each side with reasons and examples, then state your own view explicitly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has a basic two-part structure, using “On one hand” and “On the other hand” to signal contrasting points. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, ideas within each paragraph are repetitive and their relationships are not always clear: the first paragraph repeats that people watch films on phones, while the second moves from watching at home to economic strength without explaining the connection. The opening largely repeats the task rather than introducing your own position, and there is no concluding paragraph to bring the discussion together. Use a clear topic sentence for each view, connect each reason to its consequence, and finish with a concise statement of your opinion.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary such as “theatres,” “cinemas,” “entertainment,” and “economically,” so the reader can identify the subject of your response. However, the range is narrow, with repeated use of “watching movies or films” and “fun and entertainment,” which limits precision. Several word choices or forms are inaccurate, including “illestrates,” “economicaly,” and “They are provide”; these reduce the clarity and naturalness of the writing. Aim to use more precise terms for the economic and cultural roles of venues, such as employment, local businesses, shared experiences, or live performance. Check spelling and word forms carefully, and avoid repeating the same general vocabulary when you can express a more specific idea.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt some sentence variety, including conditional forms such as “If we are our friends or our family, then we are going to theatres or cinemas.” However, this construction is incomplete, and most sentences rely on simple patterns or repeated “if” clauses rather than a controlled range of structures. There are also recurring problems with sentence formation and agreement, as in “Many of the people watching movie” and “They are provide.” Punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, for example the capitalised “We” after “On one hand” and the missing space after “theatres or cinemas,”. These issues sometimes make the intended relationships difficult to follow. Practise complete clauses, accurate verb forms, and combining related ideas into clear sentences.
