Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some individuals say that in the technological era, theatres and cinemas are no longer crucial as people can watch all the entertainment they want online. Others believe that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally. Both views are valid because everyone has mobile and internet whereas economy and cultural identity much significant. I agree with the statement of second because theatres and cinemas are benificial for economy and cultural perspectives.

On the one hand, many people argue that in the digital era through online entertainment can save a lot of time and travelling expenses. Individuals can entertainment everywhere anytime. For example, Those people live in a countryside area when they go to cinemas and theaters for excitement they invest money for travel and time for destination. As a result, online platform give access to individuals to save money and valuable time.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You discuss both perspectives and state a clear preference for the view that theatres and cinemas remain important, particularly in the introduction. The points about saving travel time and costs, and about supporting the economy and cultural identity, are relevant. However, the explanations are limited: the economic point is not clearly connected to wider development, and the cultural value of seeing live performances is only briefly mentioned. The conclusion repeats the contrast rather than adding a developed final position. The response contains 243 words, so it is 7 words below the required minimum; 22 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation or specific example, and meet the minimum length.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the broad direction. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear. For example, the countryside example is difficult to follow, and the sentence beginning “For instance, when people go to cinemas…” is left incomplete before the next sentence. Some links, such as “Hence,” do not clearly show how the preceding point leads to the conclusion. Use complete sentences, organise each paragraph around one main claim, and make the relationship between examples and claims explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “digital era,” “online platform,” “cultural identity,” and “economy,” and you attempt to express ideas about access, travel costs, and cultural value. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make meaning less clear, such as “Individuals can entertainment everywhere anytime,” “department income,” and “cultural identification.” There are also spelling and form errors, including “benificial” and “a tickets.” Choose more precise, natural phrases and check spelling and word forms. For example, describe people as “watching entertainment online” and say that ticket sales “generate revenue” for cinemas.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause with “because” and a result link with “As a result.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to understand. Examples include “Both views are valid because everyone has mobile and internet whereas economy and cultural identity much significant,” where the clause structure is incomplete, and “For instance, when people go to cinemas and theaters for pleasure and happiness,” which is a sentence fragment. Agreement and article use also need attention, as in “every nations” and “a tickets.” Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, then check agreement, articles, and punctuation.
