Student answer (Band 5.5)

Majority of individuals recommends that in the digital age, online entertainment has become more convienent than theaters and cinemas as they are no longer important. Others, obstruct this recommendation by stating that theaters and cinemas are still more interesting and important in economic and cultural way. I will be delivering my opinions on both the aspects.

To commence with the first argument, online entertainment is considered more feasible and important in comaprison to personally walking or travelling to the cinemas. In this era of being online, binge watching is the new trend as it provides more comfort and and one can watch and enjoy any show at any hour of the day without waiting to be checked in or interacting with anyone else. Its provides homely feeling as well.

On the other hand, theaters and cinemas also have their own pros and cons. Heading out and seeing the show in a theatre after travelling some distance helps us to gain more exposure to the world and connects us with other people. By being outside for theaters and cinemas, individuals tends to dress up and get ready and enjoy themselves as well.

In conclusion, i think that both the arguments have their own pros and cons with their own exciting experiences and engagements.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You address both views and give a personal position, so the response is relevant to the question. The first body paragraph explains the convenience of online viewing through comfort, flexible timing and avoiding travel; the second mentions social contact and the experience of going out. However, the discussion is brief and does not fully address the claim that cinemas and theatres matter economically and culturally. The conclusion says both have advantages but does not clearly state which view you support. The response is 212 words, below the required 250, which limits the space available to develop reasons and provide examples. Extend each side with specific support and make your own opinion explicit and consistent.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “To commence with” and “On the other hand” help signal the change in argument, and the ideas within each paragraph are generally related. However, progression is limited because each side is presented as a short list of points rather than developed through explanation or examples. The introduction’s promise to discuss “both the aspects” is not followed by a clear, decisive position in the conclusion. Some linking is also mechanical, and the reference in “they are no longer important” could be clearer. Build paragraphs around a main point, explain its consequence, and use more precise referencing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “digital age,” “binge watching,” “exposure,” and “engagements,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “To commence with.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for this topic: “obstruct this recommendation” does not naturally mean disagree, “more feasible” is imprecise for online entertainment, and “in economic and cultural way” needs a more natural expression. Spelling errors such as “convienent” and “comaprison,” along with repetition of “important” and “pros and cons,” reduce control. Choose precise collocations and proofread spelling; for example, describe cinemas’ economic and cultural contributions directly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a sentence beginning “as it provides more comfort” and a contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” Most ideas remain understandable, but errors in agreement, articles, pronouns and sentence construction are noticeable. For example, “individuals tends” should use a plural verb, while “Its provides” has an incorrect pronoun and verb form. The opening sentence is also difficult to follow because its clauses and pronoun reference are not clearly controlled. Capitalise “I” in the conclusion, and check punctuation and spacing. To improve, use a reliable mix of accurate simple sentences and carefully constructed complex sentences, checking each subject–verb pairing.
