Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's rapidly growing world, cinemas plays a major role in public entertainment. However, few individuals think that cinemas are no longer important as people can watch anything online that they want. Whereas some people give credits to cinemas for public entertainment. I have discuss my opinon on this topic in following paraghraphs.

To commence with the firts point of view, nowadays online things are easy to accessible for public. People save lot of time, they do not have to plan for a specific day to watch a movie. People who give preference to the privacy chose this appoach to entertain themselves. Furthermore, watching movies online save huge chunk of money because the subscription of digital platforms are very cheap and they also save their travel expens by watch pictures at their homes.

Moreover, some people prefer cinema for the wholesome experience. The cinemas have their own different environment for which people pay extra money and this also help to boost the economy of entertainment sector . In cinemas different kind of audience is present for same film, which generate virtual community of people who have same taste in films. Public can also enjoy the reaction of the other people in cinemas halls as they come across different public opinions.

In conclusion, I firmly maintain that both the way of consuming entertainment has their own benefits, watching cinema on digital platforms is easy to access while, going in cinema halls boost economy and promote community culture. Whereas I personally enjoy the movies in cinema halls beacuse of the wholesome environment cinema creat.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a personal position: online viewing is convenient and economical, while cinemas offer a shared experience and support the entertainment economy. The conclusion also makes your preference for cinema clear. These points are relevant, but some are less fully developed than others. For example, you explain how online viewing saves time and travel costs, whereas the economic importance of cinemas is asserted rather than supported with a specific reason or example. The cultural argument about a “virtual community” is promising but could be explained further. To strengthen the response, develop each main point with a concrete example and make the comparison between the two views more explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress in a sensible order, and linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening uses “Whereas” as a sentence fragment, and the conclusion’s “while” and “Whereas” make the relationship between ideas awkward. References such as “this approach” and “this” are understandable but could be more precise. For stronger progression, use fewer formulaic transitions and connect each supporting detail directly to the paragraph’s main claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “privacy,” “subscription,” “boost the economy,” and “wholesome experience,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “virtual community,” though this is not quite the most natural description of cinema audiences. Several word-choice and collocation errors reduce precision: “easy to accessible,” “give credits to cinemas,” and “save huge chunk of money” are awkward. Spelling errors such as “opinion,” “paragraphs,” and “because” also affect the overall impression. To improve, check common word partnerships and spelling, and choose precise phrases such as “recognise the contribution” or “save a considerable amount of money.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because” and “which,” and the main meaning is generally clear. However, some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction remain. For example, “cinemas plays” should have subject–verb agreement, while “watching movies online save” also needs a singular verb. “I have discuss” has an incorrect verb form, and “Whereas some people give credits…” is not a complete sentence in this context. The final sentence also combines clauses awkwardly. Work on checking agreement and verb forms, and make sure each sentence has a complete main clause; this will improve accuracy while preserving your attempts at complex structures.
