Student answer (Band 6.0)
Advancements in technology have lead to easy access of different forms of entertainment for people in different ways but some people are of the view that theters and cinemas are no longer influential however others argue that they are important for economy and culture.
In this digital age people often consume media or entertainment online as it is easily accessible and offers an unlimited number of options. It is convenient because people can access it being home at their TV or mobile phones. This offers the advantage of not going anywhere and watching in whatever leisure time people have. Moreover it also offers an unlimited options people can watch anything anytime as compared to going cinema and selecting from limited featured movies.
However the importance of theaters and cinemas cannot be neglected because they play an imprtant role in promotion of arts and culture moreover it also benefits economically.Theaters and cinemas are also imprtant because they provide a platform to young and talented individuals who can showcase their art and skills. It provides opportunities for skilled and struggling individuals. In my opinion theaters and cinemas are equally important as they provide a different experience and environment to their audience and spectators.
I watched a movie based on Novel Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett and i had already read the novel, the movie moved me as i could understand and relate to it but i got an opportunity to see this play being performed live in a theater and it was totally a different experience. I was able to understand and feel everything in a better way. So i believe theaters and cinemas are still important for promotion of arts and culture.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the discussion and make your position clear: online entertainment is convenient, but theatres and cinemas remain important for cultural reasons. The points about watching at home and having a wider choice are relevant, while your account of seeing a live performance after reading Waiting for Godot gives a specific example that supports your view. However, the economic side of the opposing argument is only mentioned in passing (“benefits economically”), with no explanation or example, and the cultural benefits are also asserted more than developed. To strengthen the response, explain how venues support jobs or local businesses and extend your comparison of the live and online experiences.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining online viewing, a paragraph presenting the value of venues, and a personal example that reinforces your opinion. The contrast signalled by “However” helps the reader follow the shift between views, and the final sentence returns to your main position. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some effective progression. To make the flow more consistently smooth, avoid joining several ideas with repeated “moreover,” and use clearer links between the paragraph about cultural and economic importance and the personal example. The long final example could also be divided into shorter sentences so its sequence is easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “digital age,” “accessible,” “platform,” and “promotion of arts and culture.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “skilled and struggling individuals.” However, spelling errors (“theters,” “imprtant”) and imprecise or unnatural combinations (“unlimited options,” “limited featured movies”) are noticeable and reduce the accuracy of the vocabulary. Some wording is also repetitive, particularly “important” and “experience.” Build a more precise range for discussing entertainment venues and their economic role, and check spelling and collocations during editing. This would make your ideas clearer and more natural without changing their meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mixture of simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “as” and a relative clause in “a movie based on Novel Waiting for Godot.” Most of the meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. For example, “Advancements in technology have lead” has an incorrect verb form, and “people can access it being home” has an incomplete grammatical pattern. There are also issues with articles, agreement and sentence boundaries, as in “an unlimited options” and the run-on sentence beginning “I watched a movie.” Practise checking verb forms, articles and clause boundaries, and use full stops to separate complete ideas.
