Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is widely argued that theatres and cinemas should be closed down. While others believe that it has economically and cultural value. Although there are pros and cons to both views, I completely agree with the latter statement.
On the one hand, there are various reasons behind the decline of theatres and cinemas. One primary reason is social media platforms. This is because, with the help of modern technology, individuals can watch any entertainment shows or movies in their desired place. Social media platforms, such as Netflix and YouTube, have all types of variety available on them. They are easy to access and comfortable for all age groups, with convenience and flexibility. As a result, pupils watch entertainment shows online, which saves them charges, namely sitting charges, GST, and others. Subsequently, makes virtual entertainment affordable.
On the other hand, there are vital reasons to save theatres and cinemas. The first and foremost reason is that cinemas hold culture together, as other cultural dances or some dramas are performed there. Since entertainment comes online, cultural dance, music and other activities take place there. This makes culture lively and enjoyable. Not only that, but the theatres also generate income, which eventually accrues to the nation's economy. If theatres and cinemas close, actors become unemployed. Ultimately, it affects the nation's GDP due to fewer foreign currency transactions and a surge in unemployment.
In conclusion, there are causes like affordability and flexibility to shut theatres and cinemas, but there are benefits to the economy and culture, which should be always live. Therefore, I firmly believe that cinemas and theaters should not be closed.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and make your position clear: you support keeping theatres and cinemas open. The first body paragraph explains the appeal of online entertainment through convenience, access and lower costs, while the second gives relevant economic and cultural reasons to preserve venues. However, some points are less fully developed than others. For example, the claim that cinemas “hold culture together” is followed by a broad reference to dances and dramas, but the connection could be explained with a specific example. The economic point about GDP and foreign currency is also asserted rather than demonstrated. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation or example, and distinguish more precisely between social-media platforms and streaming services.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your opinion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” makes the progression easy to follow. This meets the lower-band expectations and shows some stronger control through clear paragraphing and a generally logical sequence. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. “Subsequently, makes virtual entertainment affordable” is a sentence fragment, and “Since entertainment comes online” does not clearly connect the preceding idea about cultural performances to the next claim. Use linking phrases that express the exact relationship between ideas, and make references such as “there” unambiguous.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “convenience and flexibility,” “generate income,” “unemployed,” and “nation’s GDP.” These choices help communicate both the appeal of online viewing and the possible effects of closing venues. You also attempt more formal expressions, such as “accrues to the nation’s economy,” although some phrasing is inaccurate or unnatural. “Social media platforms” is not the most precise label for Netflix, and “all types of variety” is redundant. Expressions such as “sitting charges” and “which should be always live” also make parts of the argument less clear. Aim for more precise collocations and avoid repeating general terms such as “entertainment” when a specific word would be clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including clauses beginning “While,” “Although,” and “If,” and most of the argument remains understandable. Some sentences are controlled, such as “If theatres and cinemas close, actors become unemployed.” However, grammatical errors occur in several places. “While others believe that it has economically and cultural value” is an incomplete sentence and has faulty agreement and parallel structure; “Subsequently, makes virtual entertainment affordable” is also a fragment. In “Since entertainment comes online, cultural dance, music and other activities take place there,” the clause structure and reference are unclear. Check that subordinate clauses are attached to a main clause, and review agreement, articles and sentence boundaries when editing.
