Student answer (Band 6.5)
People argue that in this modern era they can enjoy all forms of entertainment by using internet with the help of technology while others are thinking of cultural and economic advantages of theatres and cinema. I think that both have some merits and drawbacks as well.
By using modern technology people nowadays can watch their favorite movies and shows online. Even some shows or plays that were broadcast a long time ago are now available on different online platforms. As a result, people are more likely to use these digital sources of entertainment. Even newly launched movies are also available on some online OTT platforms. Consequently, the viewers don't have to pay high for buying tickets for cinemas.
On the other hand, the importance of theatres and cinemas as one of the major parts of our culture and source of economy can not be denied. Almost each country has its own tradition of promoting movies, dramas, plays. Some countries choose theatres and cinemas as a way of showing their culture, art and history to their citizen. Also the people who work in these sectors of art are financially dependent on the income of the movies or plays when they are launched through theatres and cinemas. The economy of a country is also benefitted by the financial profits come from the art sector.
In conclusion, by using digital platforms the individuals are being profitted in so many ways. However, to conserve our culture and prevent economic loss of art sectors, theatres and cinemas are playing a vital role.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both perspectives and give a concluding view: online platforms offer convenient, lower-cost access, while cinemas and theatres support cultural expression and people working in the arts. These points are relevant, but the position is not fully clear. The introduction says both sides have “merits and drawbacks,” whereas the conclusion mainly stresses preserving culture and preventing economic loss, without clearly stating which view you ultimately support or how you weigh them. Some ideas also need fuller explanation: for example, you mention that the arts contribute to a country’s economy, but do not explain the mechanism or provide a specific example. Develop the comparison and make your own position explicit throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression from online convenience to the cultural and economic role of venues is easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “As a result,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the argument. To strengthen the organisation further, make the relationship between ideas more precise rather than relying mainly on familiar transition phrases. For instance, the economic point could follow directly from an explanation of how venue-based releases support workers and businesses. The conclusion also repeats the two sides but could connect them more clearly to the position established in the introduction.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “digital platforms,” “financially dependent,” “tradition,” and “economic profits,” so the main ideas are communicated clearly. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “newly launched movies” and “promoting movies, dramas, plays.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “pay high,” “benefitted by the financial profits,” and “people are being profitted.” “Citizen” is also used where a plural form is needed. Aim for more natural combinations and precise wording, especially when discussing economic effects. This would make the argument sound more fluent and controlled without requiring more complicated vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause in “while others are thinking…” and a result clause beginning “As a result.” Most sentences remain understandable, and errors rarely obscure your meaning. Some grammatical inaccuracies persist, however. For example, “the financial profits come from the art sector” needs a clearer relative structure, such as “profits that come from the arts sector,” while “to their citizen” requires a plural noun. The opening sentence also has an awkwardly constructed comparison between people’s views. Work on articles, plural forms, and clause construction, and check that longer sentences express relationships between ideas clearly. Greater accuracy across these structures would improve control.
