Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, this discussion is very important. Some people believe that theater and cinema are no longer important. If they need anything. They can catch it online. In my perspective, theater are also important.

On the one hand, world is growing day by day and world introduced technology every day. Most of individuals know the use of technology. Therefore they can find useful things online. For example, if someone want to watch movies or webseries. He can download any thing from his phone as well as laptop. This thing is fasclitating individuals. Therefore they don't need to watch movies in cinemas or anywhere else.it is also fasclitatiting in many ways. If someone is doing online work or have internet shop. Many individuals are using this method. they just visit shopkeeper shop and feed online data. After this, they can enjoy movies on their smartphones as well as laptops.

On the other hand, theater are very important in our lives. After the busy day, people tired from their work. They want to do some rest. Therefore many people visit theater not just for wtching movies. They want to spend time with their family. They really enjoy with their siblings as well as their parents. Therefore, theater is the way, individuals can spend a time as well as eat snaks.Online we have a small screen of laptop or smartphones. But,in the theater or cinemas we can enjoy a bigger screen and high resolution screen.Lastly, theater and cinemas are very important both economically as well as culturally.

In conclusion, we can movie or anything online. But theaters and cinemas are very crusial for us. We can spend a quality time with our family and enjoy snacks there.Moreove, in the theaters we have a big screen.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both perspectives and state your own view: online access is convenient, but you consider theatres and cinemas important. Relevant supporting points include watching films on phones or laptops and enjoying a larger screen and family outing at a cinema. However, the economic and cultural importance named in the prompt is only repeated in the sentence “important both economically as well as culturally”; neither aspect is explained. The online-work and internet-shop example is also unclear and does not strongly support the entertainment argument. To develop the response further, explain how cinemas contribute economically or preserve shared cultural experiences, and extend each main point with a specific example. Your position is present, but could be stated more clearly and consistently.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the discussion, and the main ideas are generally grouped by viewpoint. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and linking words such as “Therefore” are repeated so often that connections feel mechanical. Some references are unclear, particularly “This thing” and “they just visit shopkeeper shop,” making the online example difficult to follow. The conclusion mostly repeats the earlier points rather than drawing them together. Use a wider range of clear transitions, make pronoun references explicit, and organise each body paragraph around one main claim followed by explanation and an example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the basic ideas, including “technology,” “download,” “smartphones,” “bigger screen,” and “quality time.” However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “important,” “individuals,” and “Therefore.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “fasclitating,” “wtching,” “snaks,” and “crusial,” which can distract the reader. Some expressions are unnatural or imprecise, including “theater are very important in our lives” and “spend a time.” Build a more varied set of accurate terms for convenience, shared experiences, and cultural or economic value, and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You communicate the main ideas using mostly simple sentences and make some attempts to connect clauses with “if,” “because”-type reasoning, and “as well as.” However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the response awkward or unclear. Examples include “If they need anything. They can catch it online,” where the first clause is incomplete, and “if someone want to watch,” which has subject–verb disagreement. There are also problems with articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries, as in “theater are” and “it is also…” after a full stop. Practise complete conditional sentences, agreement, and accurate punctuation, then combine simple ideas into controlled complex sentences.
