Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the digital arena, when people can watch all the entertainment they want online, few people say, theatre and cinema halls are no longer important, while others argue that theatres and cinema halls are still important economically and culturally.
Overall, we are now fully dependent on our personal gadgets. Watching movies on phones, tv's is a part and parcel of our lives. However, sometimes during a family outing, spending quality time in theatres and cinema halls can be worth investing to cherish for a lifetime.
People nowadys is busier than before. They work or study and spend plenty of time outdoors. After a long hectic day, watching movies alone or with friends and families at home can be not only pretty relaxing but also peaceful and convenient. For example, I work 8 hours a day and travel total 3 hours from and to my house. At the end of the day, I may be extremely tired to go out again for a movie. Hence, for me, watching movie at home is more convenient than going to theatres and cinema halls.
On the other hand, going to theatres and cinema halls with friends and families every now and then can be very refreshing. It creates a memory for a lifetime. We can cherish this memory forever. For example, on last holiday, all of our friends planned to see a movie together. This plan gave us the opportunity to see each other again. We could spend a beautiful and memorable day together. Watching movies in theatres and cinema halls is also our anchestors tradition and a way for the movie makers to earn money and run the movie industry for decades.
In conclusion, watching movies online and at theatres, both has importance in our lives. We decide each platform as per our convenience. Hence, no platform can be superior that the other.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and give a concluding position: online viewing is convenient, while cinemas offer shared experiences and support the film industry. The personal examples—your tiring commute and the friends’ outing—make the discussion relevant. However, the two sides are not developed equally in relation to the prompt. The online paragraph focuses mainly on convenience, while the economic and cultural importance of theatres is mentioned only briefly in the final body paragraph, with little explanation of how venues contribute economically or preserve culture. Your conclusion that neither platform is superior is clear, but it could follow more convincingly from a fuller comparison of the arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression from convenience at home to the social value of cinema is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the other hand” help distinguish the perspectives. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or unclear. The introduction’s “while others argue” construction is awkward, and the sequence “It creates a memory… We can cherish this memory” repeats the same point rather than advancing it. The final sentence of the second body paragraph combines tradition and industry income without a clear link. Use references and transitions more precisely, and organise each paragraph around one developed central idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range to discuss convenience and shared experiences, including phrases such as “quality time,” “hectic day,” and “memorable day.” These choices help communicate your meaning, and you attempt more expressive language. Some wording, however, is inaccurate or unnatural: “digital arena,” “worth investing to cherish for a lifetime,” and “run the movie industry” do not express the ideas idiomatically. There are also spelling errors, including “nowadys” and “anchestors,” and informal forms such as “tv’s.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling, especially in key terms; more precise vocabulary for cultural and economic contributions would also strengthen the discussion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning “After a long hectic day” and “when people can watch…”. Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “People nowadys is busier” has subject–verb disagreement, “watching movie” needs an article or plural, and “both has importance” does not agree with its subject. The opening sentence also has awkward punctuation around “few people say,” which disrupts the sentence structure. To improve control, check agreement and articles, and revise long sentences so that clauses connect cleanly. Greater accuracy in these areas would make your varied structures easier to read.
