Student answer (Band 5.5)

Due to the modern technology and high definition home entertainment sparked the debate that theaters and cinemas does not have same importance as they were before. But there are pros and cons for the both opinions that they have no importance at all and still have great significance for both economically and culturly.

Enhancement in the technilogy and easily availibilty of the things, many people consider the home entertainment more beneficial. The reason for this is they don't need to pay any money for watching the movies. They make their own small cinema in their hose where everry person of the family can watch anything easily without wasting time and money. To some extent this is a very good thing. But everyone does not enough resourses for the personal cinema. In contrary, everyone watch movies of different genere.

On the other hand, people's thought about the economically and culturally significance of cinemas is good to the large extent. First benefit is that, watching movies in theatres and cinemas add a huge amount of revenue in the state territory that in turn helpful for the progress of state. Secondly, anyone can watch movies of any genere without any difficulty. Watching on the big screen in different aspect ratio such as IMAX delivere a much more pleasing and enjoyable entertainment. Now a days 3D and virtual reality screens are envolving which give astonishing experience.

In conclusion, both of the terms have their own pros and cons related to their applications as personally, economically and culturally.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views: online home entertainment is presented as convenient and potentially cheaper, while cinemas are linked to revenue and the distinctive experience of large, 3D and IMAX screens. However, the discussion is only partial. The claim that viewers “don't need to pay any money” is not explained or qualified, and the economic point about revenue for the state is asserted without an example or explanation of how cinemas contribute. Cultural importance is mentioned in the introduction but is not developed in the body. Your own opinion is also unclear: the conclusion says both sides have advantages and disadvantages, but does not state which view you support or why. Develop these points and give a direct, consistent position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the other hand,” “First benefit,” and “Secondly” help readers follow the main points. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the point that not everyone has resources for a personal cinema is followed by the unrelated observation that people watch different genres. The conclusion also repeats the general idea of pros and cons rather than drawing the discussion together. Some linking is mechanical, and the opening sentence is difficult to follow because its ideas are not connected clearly. Use topic sentences and make each supporting sentence explain or illustrate the paragraph’s central point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “home entertainment,” “revenue,” “big screen,” “IMAX,” and “virtual reality,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “culturally significance.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “technilogy,” “availibilty,” “resourses,” and “genere” recur or affect key terms. Several combinations are unnatural, including “state territory” and “in different aspect ratio.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. A more precise range would also help distinguish economic benefits from cultural value, rather than relying mainly on general words such as “good,” “beneficial,” and “pleasing.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause beginning “The reason for this is…” and a contrast introduced by “But.” However, errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to interpret. For example, “Due to the modern technology … sparked the debate” lacks a clear grammatical subject, while “theaters and cinemas does not have” has subject–verb disagreement. Other problems include “everyone does not enough resources,” “everyone watch,” and the incomplete construction “as personally, economically and culturally.” Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries also need attention. Practise building complete clauses with clear subjects and verbs, then check agreement and punctuation. Greater accuracy in basic structures will make your more complex ideas easier to understand.
