Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many people say that in the world where everything is digital, theatres, cinemas are not important as people wtach every entertainment they want online. Others fight that for economically and culturally theatres and cinemas are still important. In my opnion they are still important because in the world of digitalization it is something different thing you can do for entertainment.

Many people argue that in this age where everything is in your hand theatre and cinemas are not important. Because in this digital world you can see all the sports, entertainment shows on the phone or on the TV. If you get bored with one you can changed until you like something while sitting at home which can't be done in theatres or in cinemas. For example if you watch a movie or play in the theatres or cinemas and after a while you don't like it you cant change but on the phone you are able to do it. So it very easy on digital gadgets.

While others argue that it is still as imporant as before for the economy and culturally. The reason is even everything is in your hand after a while you will get bored and to do something exciting you will choose places like theatres or cinema hall. For example while we can see movies on TV but we choose to wait till it get to the cinema hall because the excitement and enjoyment we get when we watch movies with a lot of people is still undescribeable. You get to share the happiness with others.

In conclusion, while some people say that cinemas and theatres are not importtant as we get to see all the entertainment online in the digital area others argue that it is still important financially and culturally. I believe that it is still important as you can do something different and also some people can earn from this.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both views and state a consistent opinion: cinemas offer a different experience, and you conclude that they remain important. The examples about changing online content and sharing enjoyment with an audience are relevant. However, the economic and cultural importance named in the prompt is only briefly addressed. The claim that “some people can earn from this” is not explained, and the cultural value is mostly reduced to shared happiness. The opposing view is also developed mainly through convenience rather than a fuller range of reasons. To strengthen the response, explain how cinemas support jobs or local businesses and how theatres preserve live performance or cultural traditions, then develop each example more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. The contrast between the positions is easy to follow, and signposts such as “While others argue” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some features of stronger progression. However, connections can feel mechanical, with repeated use of “For example” and “while,” and some references are unclear, as in “it is still as important as before” without specifying exactly what “it” refers to. The conclusion largely repeats the introduction rather than drawing together the reasons. Use more varied linking and clearer references, and make each paragraph’s main point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “digital world,” “entertainment,” “economy,” and “culturally.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, which can make the reader pause. Examples include “fight that” for expressing disagreement, “everything is in your hand,” and “the excitement and enjoyment … is still undescribeable.” Spelling errors such as “wtach,” “opnion,” “imporant,” and “importtant” are also noticeable. Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling carefully. Replacing repeated general terms with specific language about convenience, live performance, audience experience, employment, and cultural value would make the discussion clearer and more flexible.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “If you get bored with one…” and a contrast introduced by “While others argue.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect fluency. For example, “you can changed” should use the base verb after “can,” while “it very easy” needs a verb. There are also problems with sentence boundaries, as in “Many people argue… not important. Because…,” and agreement in “the excitement and enjoyment … is.” Articles and plural forms are inconsistent in phrases such as “theatre and cinemas.” Practise accurate modal patterns, subject–verb agreement, and sentence punctuation, then proofread each sentence for a complete subject and verb.
