Student answer (Band 6.5)
A few individuals claim that in the modern times, movie theatres and cinemas are unimportant as people can watch all the entertainment they desire using online websites and streaming platforms. Others contradict by saying that theatres and cinemas are economically and culturally significant at present nonetheless. In my opinion, watching movies by physically going to the theatre halls makes the experience unique.
On the one hand, nowadays anyone can watch whatever they like online on their televisions, computers, mobile phones and so on. There are streaming websites available like Netflix, where everyone can watch the latest shows and cinemas with a proper internet connection and a monthly subscription which costs very little in compariosn to the services subscribers get. For example, my brother and I have a shared netflix account where we stream our favourite shows and the latest movies whenever we want without facing any complications.
However, theatres and cinemas still have value as they uphold a cultural significance alongside being financially beneficial. I believe that by going to the cinemas and watching in the hall makes the experience more enjoyable. Moreover, people can spend quality time with their loved ones. Besides, some of the shopping malls in our country have movie halls thus, though people mainly go for the cinemas they do shopping as well which acts as a economical booster. Furthermore, experiencing the crowd and their excitement while watching a movie creates a special feeling of enjoyment. For instance, My cousins and I watched our favourite anime in the hall last year and everyone present there added to the vibe of joy, all the cheers during the action scenes were very exciting.
In conclusion, though entertainments have easily accessible to everyone around the world due to the online platforms, according to my belief to hold the importance of economy and culture one should experience theatres and cinemas

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and make your own position clear: you recognise the convenience and low cost of streaming, while arguing that cinema-going offers a distinctive experience and supports economic and cultural value. The Netflix example and the account of watching anime with your cousins provide relevant support. This meets the task well, and the personal examples help make your position clear. However, the online-entertainment view is developed mainly through convenience and affordability, while the economic and cultural claims about cinemas receive limited explanation. For example, the shopping-mall point suggests an economic benefit but does not explain its wider significance. To strengthen the response further, develop each main claim with a clearer explanation and a specific consequence.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall structure: the introduction presents the debate and your view, the body paragraphs discuss the two sides, and the conclusion restates your position. Linking phrases such as “On the one hand,” “However,” and “Furthermore” make the progression easy to follow. The examples are generally placed alongside the points they support. Some transitions and references are less smooth, though: “Moreover,” “Besides,” and “Furthermore” stack several additions in the second body paragraph, making the relationships between the ideas feel list-like. The conclusion also repeats the contrast without fully drawing the discussion together. Group related points and use a wider range of links that show cause, result, or contrast to make cohesion more flexible.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “streaming platforms,” “cultural significance,” “financially beneficial,” and “quality time.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and the examples are easy to understand. There are also some inaccurate or unnatural expressions that limit precision, such as “an economical booster,” “hold the importance of economy and culture,” and “latest shows and cinemas.” Spelling and capitalisation slips, including “compariosn” and “netflix,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural collocations and precise terms when discussing the industry and its effects. For instance, describe cinemas as supporting local businesses or contributing to the economy, rather than using “economical booster.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “where everyone can watch” and a concessive structure in the conclusion. Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. In “by going to the cinemas and watching in the hall makes the experience,” the introductory phrase does not agree with the singular verb; write “going … makes” or “people … find.” The conclusion’s “though entertainments have easily accessible” needs a passive form, such as “though entertainment has become easily accessible.” There are also punctuation and sentence-boundary problems, for example “Besides, some” and the long sentence beginning “Moreover, people can spend…”. Check agreement, verb forms, articles, and punctuation, especially when combining clauses.
