Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the digital age, the theatres and cinemas are now showing less colors as the OTT platforms have picked up to an extent. In a way it is good also, as people are spending less money on watching a movie and food along with it which they can utilize in some other important thing. On the other hand, cinemas and theatre have an important place in the society since beginning.

In this era, where online and digital platform have risen ,these are very healful source of entertainment for the people staying in remote areas. They can convenintly watch shows on their televison ,where there is flexibility to pause, resume, rewind at their own pace. For example, Sows on Netflix are very entertaining and people also enjoy. there are certain movies whixh are only released on online platforms ,so those can be watched with a lot of interest.

Although, theatres and cinemas have its own importance ,as people's memories are attached to it . It build a community relationship that would be cherished and remembered lifetime. The theatres also give lot of emlpoyment opportuinities to the actors, directors, theatre owners to make money. For example, enjoying a movie in thetare with family or friends along with cheese popcorn has a different level of excitemnet which won't be there at home.

In my opinion, online entertainment is becoming increasingly popular, traditional theatres and cinemas will its own place. Rather than competing with the other it can increase its own viewing experience and offering unique events to encourage people to attend those in person.

To conclude, online platforms are convenient, easy and affordable, but cinemas and theatres continue to contribute significantly to the economy and cultural life. Therefore, i believe that both the forms should coexist successfully in the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and give a clear overall opinion that online entertainment and in-person venues should coexist. The discussion of online viewing includes relevant benefits such as affordability, convenience, and access for people in remote areas; the cinema paragraph adds cultural and economic points, including shared memories and employment. These points answer the task, but some are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that theatres build community relationships would be stronger with an explanation of how shared attendance creates this effect. The economic contribution is also narrowed mainly to jobs for industry workers. Your conclusion restates your position effectively, though the opinion could be made more explicit earlier and developed consistently throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the online and in-person perspectives, your opinion, and a conclusion. This makes the discussion easy to follow. You also use signposts such as “On the other hand,” “Although,” and “To conclude” to show relationships between ideas. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening sentence of the opinion paragraph—“online entertainment is becoming increasingly popular, traditional theatres and cinemas will its own place”—does not clearly express the contrast between the two clauses. There are also abrupt transitions between examples and claims, and punctuation spacing sometimes interrupts the flow. Use clearer topic sentences and link each example explicitly to the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “OTT platforms,” “remote areas,” “flexibility,” “employment opportunities,” and “cultural life.” This gives you enough range to discuss both digital viewing and traditional venues. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unnatural, as in “showing less colors,” “picked up to an extent,” and “build a community relationship.” Several spelling errors—such as “healful,” “convenintly,” “televison,” and “excitemnet”—also make the writing less polished and can slow the reader. Aim for precise, natural combinations, such as “cinema attendance has declined” and “foster a sense of community.” Proofreading for spelling and choosing standard expressions would make your ideas clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “where,” “as,” and “which,” and most of your meaning remains understandable. However, errors in sentence structure and agreement recur. For example, “online and digital platform have risen” needs a plural subject, while “theatres and cinemas has its own importance” would require plural agreement. The sentence “Rather than competing with the other it can increase its own viewing experience” has an unclear subject and faulty construction. There are also missing articles and inconsistent punctuation, including the lowercase “i” and run-on spacing around commas. Practise building accurate complex sentences and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries during revision.
